Travel Note

Ferry from Ketchikan International Airport to the City of Ketchikan

There is a small ferry that all visitors arriving by plane must take from the airport to the town of Ketchikan. The ferry leaves from the airport twice an hour, at :00 and :30 past the hour. If you miss the ferry, there will be another leaving in 30 minutes. Airport staff is very friendly and can help guide you. You can also ask anyone arriving with you and people will most likely be able to help you. In order to get to the ferry, grab any checked luggage then exit the airport and walk across the street (towards the water). You will see a covered walkway and will need to stop at the kiosk on the way to the ferry to pay the $6 per person fee. Credit or cash accepted. Please coordinate with Tyler or Tony if you need a ride from the airport and someone can drive over to get you. You will need to likely call a cab or shuttle (Cape Fox Lodge only) once you arrive to the Ketchikan Side. The ride is only about 5 minutes but keep your eyes peeled for whales.

Rental Car

Alaska Car Rental

2828 Tongass Avenue
Ketchikan, AK 99901

There are some rental cars available in Ketchikan through this car rental company. They can be somewhat expensive, however. For those who haven't been to Ketchikan and are contemplating renting a car, this may help: The two hotels listed on this page are downtown. We live downtown, the reception will be held downtown. There will be shuttles running to the wedding ceremony site from downtown and back on the day of the wedding. There is much to explore on foot so a car is not 100% necessary, however the month of October can be very rainy so a car may be a good idea. We may also have friends and family with cars we could borrow for a few days so let me know if cost is an issue and we will find a car to borrow.
