How We Met

5.11.2017

Jordan had just moved to Denver after finishing graduate school and was in the market for a climbing gym. The newest and closest gym, Übergrippen, had yet to open but was offering hard hat tours of the facility. One day after work, Jordan showed up for her hard hat tour and was the first to arrive. A single employee was hanging around waiting for the group, so she ventured over and introduced herself to Brian. Jordan liked the gym so much that she signed up for a membership that evening. Shortly after the soft opening, Brian invited Jordan to climb Playin' Hooky in Clear Creek Canyon on the 4th of July. That moment cemented their budding friendship and, unbeknownst to them, was the start of a yearly tradition.

Together

7.21.2018

When friendship becomes more...Brian and Jordan officially started dating in July of 2018 and moved in together a year later. They continued going on rad adventures including: visiting friends in Ten Sleep, WY for a climbing trip, learning Acro Yoga, discovering their love of biking, and hanging out with friends both old and new. There never seemed to be a dull moment.

The Proposal

7.5.2020

Remember the tradition of climbing a multi-pitch route on the 4th of July? Well this year was a bit different. Jordan had to work on the 4th so the couple had to postpone their climbing adventure until the 5th. The objective for the day was Wild Child, a 4 pitch, 400 foot climb in Clear Creek Canyon. Getting an early start to beat the heat, the couple were beginning the last pitch just in time to start baking in the sun. Brian led this final pitch and was waiting for Jordan at the top. Once she got to the top she was very focused on getting down (it was HOT!) and immediately started setting up for the rappel. She put herself on rappel without paying any attention to what Brian was doing to her right. Out of the blue he hands her a carabiner and says "you're going to need this." She was very confused at first (she had everything she needed for the rappel), until he jiggled the biner and she realized there was a ring on it. Looking over to him, she saw that he was down on one knee proposing!!
