When two bright-eyed kids met at NYU, neither would have imagined it would lead them here. While walking laps around the gym floor and playing a game of water pong during Relay for Life at Coles, the university's fitness center, Romel and Krysta realized there was an ease and comfort when they were around each other. It was K's first summer in New York City, and R spent the next few months showing her all the sides of the the city where he grew up. That July, R and K met to celebrate one of K's favorite holidays: "National Tequila Day." A couple margaritas and one shot of horseradish vodka eased their nerves just enough to see where a relationship could take them. Life took many turns, but the friendship and love between R and K remained something they could each held onto tightly. They've built a trove of memories like surfing in Costa Rica, visiting the site the Olympic flame is lit in Greece, taking many trips to Disney World, and searching for the best cold brew worldwide (Variety in NYC is still winning), but they also realized the deepest joy and connection came from quiet moments together sharing in every day life. Through it all, R and K have always known the other belonged in their life. Over the last few years, it became clear they would spend a lifetime together as partners. When R proposed in the mountains of Ecuador, saying yes was the easiest and most sure thing K had ever done. With love and blessing, they've been embraced by each other's families and shared their two unique cultures and backgrounds. At the same time, R and K have created traditions all their own like dedicated tech-free time each week, hiking and camping, and a secret Santa stocking game the whole family now loves. A shared faith in God has been a cornerstone of their relationship, and they are deeply grateful for his role in their story. In R's efforts to avoid getting a cat, the family has grown to include feathered, scaly, and floppy-eared critters. Sprite, Yoshi, and Toast are over the moon that their parents are uniting in marriage! Romel and Krysta know the love story they are writing would never be possible without the support of friends and family. Exactly twelve years after the July day that started it all, the couple will say I do to forever. Their wedding is an event a longtime in the making, and they are eager to celebrate all the joy and beauty of the covenant of marriage alongside each of you in Canada.
