The house dates back to 1580 and can be seen in the oldest vista of Trenčín. In the 17th century, according to folk legend, it served as a town’s headsman’s home as well as a prison. Nowadays, you can see an exhibition of town headsman´s swords, pillory, shackles, replica of rack, halberts of city catchpolls, uniforms of city police captain, sabres and guns of city policemen, and other historical items of interest.

The covered Renaissance Parish stairs were built in 1568. They had an important function as a defensive passage at that time. The 101 wooden steps now serve the general public. They connect the city center with the Parish Church complex and castle. They also lead to Brezina forest park, which was planted in the mid-19th century.
Beckov Castle is a majestic monument poised on top of a 60-metre steep rock massif above the village of Beckov. Numerous Hungarian noble families and noblemen inhabited the castle in the past before it was destroyed in the 18th century by a fire. Ambrovec Mansion is located just below the castle and houses an exhibition of historical furniture taken from the interiors of noblemen’s abodes, wooden sculptures, drawings of Ladislav Medňanský, and artistic craftsmanship. Čachtice Castle, built in the 13th century, is best known for its association with Countess Elisabeth Báthory in the late 16th–early 17th centuries. The castle was destroyed in 1708 during the uprising of Francis Rákóczi and later fell into ruins.
