Question

How do I get to Trencin?

Answer

Please see "Travel" section for more details. Trenčín does not have its own international airport, but there are excellent nearby options: Vienna International Airport (VIE) – a major international hub (about 2–2.5 hours from Trenčín). Guests can travel onward by train, bus, or rental car. Prague Airport (PRG) – another great international option. Prague is well connected to Trenčín by train, with convenient rail service (including direct or easy one-connection routes), making it a comfortable and scenic journey of approximately 4–4.5 hours. Bratislava Airport (BTS) – This airport does not support international flights, however it is the closest airport (about 1 hour–1 hour 15 minutes by car or train). From Bratislava, guests can take a direct train, bus, rideshare, or rental car to Trenčín. Suitable option if you are visiting another country before the wedding.

Question

What should I expect on the wedding day?

Answer

Slovak weddings are a full-day (and late-night!) celebration with several meaningful moments throughout the day. Guests are welcome to join for as much or as little of the celebration as they wish. The day begins with pre-ceremony cocktails at our reception venue (Restaurant Fatima), followed by the wedding ceremony at Trencin Castle. Immediately after the ceremony, the reception begins with cocktails and the first main meal as everyone gets settled. Later in the evening, celebrations continue with music, dancing, and traditions. A second dinner buffet will be served later at night to keep the party going. Around midnight, we will celebrate Čepčenie, a traditional Slovak ceremony, after which the celebration continues into the early morning hours.

Question

What is the cepcenie tradition?

Answer

Slovak čepčenie (chep-chen-yeh) is a meaningful midnight wedding ritual symbolizing a bride's transition from maiden to married woman, where elder women remove her floral wreath (parta) and replace it with a married woman's bonnet (čepiec) while singing traditional songs, marking her new status, often followed by a ceremonial dance. Pay to Dance (Redový): Following čepčenie, guests are invited to take part in a cherished tradition by offering a monetary gift, which is ceremonially collected to help the couple begin their life together. Afterward, guests step into the dance circle to dance with the bride or groom.

Question

How Can I Get Still Water (No Bubbles)?

Answer

When Ordering at a Restaurant: 1. Čistá voda - (CHEE-stah VOH-dah) 2. Voda, Bez bublienky - (VOH-dah, Bez BOO-blyen-kee) 3. Neperlivá voda - (NEH-per-lee-vah VOH-dah) When Buying a Bottle: - Look for only “Voda” on the packaging. - If it says “Minerálna Voda” (mineral water), it will usually have bubbles. For mineral water with minimal bubbles, look for “Jemne Perlivá” (lightly sparkling). 💡 Tip: Most bottled water in Slovakia will clearly say perlivá (sparkling) or neperlivá (still), so checking the label is usually enough to get the right type.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Dress Code: Formal We kindly ask our guests to dress in formal attire to help us create an elegant and timeless celebration. For men, this means a suit or blazer and dress shoes (tie or bow tie encouraged). For women, formal dresses are recommended. Floor-length dresses are welcome, and midi-length or knee-length dresses are also perfectly appropriate as long as they feel elevated and suited for a special occasion. Think refined fabrics, polished silhouettes, and dressy accessories. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone looking their best!

Question

Where are you registered for wedding gifts?

Answer

As this is an international wedding and travel logistics are limited, we kindly ask that guests consider a monetary gift in lieu of traditional registry items. This will help support our honeymoon and the next chapter of our lives together.

Question

Are plus-ones and children allowed?

Answer

Yes, both plus ones and children are allowed. Please include this information on your RSVP.

Question

Will there be a shuttle to and/or from the hotel(s)?

Answer

No, there will not be a shuttle provided. We highly recommend booking accommodations from our list of recommended hotels in the Travel section, as they are conveniently located in the city center and within a 10-minute (or less) walk of both the ceremony and reception venues.

Question

Have you reserved blocks of rooms at one or more hotels?

Answer

Yes — we have 12 rooms reserved from June 4–8 at Hotel Pod Hradom, which is directly connected to our reception venue, Restaurant Fatima. If you would like to stay in one of these reserved rooms, please reach out to us (the bride or groom) directly to confirm your dates. Guests will be responsible for the cost of their room. You do not need to make a booking on your own — simply arrive at the hotel on your confirmed date, and your room will be ready for you. Payment will be handled by the guest at check-out.

Question

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding will take place outdoors, with the reception held on the summer terrace at Restaurant Fatima. The terrace is partly covered, providing shade and protection from the elements. In the event of inclement weather, the venue is fully equipped to move the celebration indoors if needed.
