Travel Note

A Note About DC Geography

For those not familiar with DC, note that North, South, and East Capitol Streets and The National Mall divide the city into four quadrants: Northwest (NW), Northeast (NE), Southwest (SW), and Southeast (SE). The nexus of the four quadrants is the U.S. Capitol Building. The streets in DC run three ways: east-west (letters), north-south (numbers), and diagonally (states). Our wedding and hotels are all located in southeast (SE) and our apartment, welcome reception, and rehearsal dinner are located in northwest (NW). Before going anywhere, make sure you have the correct quadrant, as addresses can repeat in each quadrant.

Flight

Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA)

DC has 3 airports, but DCA is the most convenient. Locally referred to as "National" or "Reagan", DCA is a less than 15 minute drive from our choice hotels / wedding venue. JetBlue flies nearly hourly nonstop DCA->BOS.

Flight

Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Airport

Although located in Baltimore, BWI is a great second option to DCA (popular Southwest hub), and depending on time of day, about an hour drive from venue / hotels.

Flight

Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Located in Virginia, IAD, or "Dulles," is about a 45 minute drive from DC. The Metro's Silver Line recently finished an expansion, so IAD is officially Metro-accessible; anticipate at least a 90 minute ride.

Train

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) (Metro)

DC has an extensive Metro system. If taking Metro, note that all our events are located off the Green Line at the following stops: District Winery & Hotels: Navy Yard-Ballpark Welcome Reception / Rehearsal Dinner: Shaw-Howard Univ.
