Between the monuments, federal buildings, bars, and restaurants, DC truly does have it all. Here are a few of our favorites:
Shaw's Tavern
520 Florida Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
Let's be real--you're not coming here for the food. Great local spot for cheap bottomless brunch, or Sunday night drag and dinner! We were here for last NYE and have celebrated countless birthdays and just-because-Saturdays here.
All Souls Bar
725 T Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
Our favorite cocktail bar, just blocks from our apartment and home to many of our drunken big relationship conversations after 2-3 manhattans.
The Dirty Goose
913 U Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
Popular gay bar in the heart of Shaw; one of our favorite rooftop hangout spots!
Dacha Beer Garden (Shaw)
1600 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
Without question, our favorite beer garden in DC. You can find us here most weekends, given it's a block from our apt. Bring your dog! And yes, they have cocktails too.
National Portrait Gallery
8th St NW & G St NW, Washington, DC 20001
The National Portrait Gallery is part of the Smithsonian Institution and home to all the presidential portraits; personal fave!
Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum
1661 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20006
The Renwick Gallery is located near the White House and presents craft and decorative art from the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s collection.
National Museum of African American History and Culture
1400 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20560
Opened in 2016 and is one of DC's most popular Smithsonian museums--make sure to reserve free tickets well in advance!
Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
600 Independence Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20560
Check out the impressive new renovation; note free timed entry passes are required (book early!)
The Little Gay Pub
1100 P Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005
LGP opened in March 2023 and has immediately worked its way into our weekly Friday happy hour rotation. Just 3 blocks from our apt., LGP has become one of our favorite spots for an aperol spritz.
