Flight
Málaga has the closest airport to Lucena. After landing in Málaga you can get to Lucena by car, bus, or BlaBla car. If you choose to rent a car, Lucena is a 50 minute drive from Málaga.
Flight
Madrid is usually the cheapest option with more direct flight options from the US (and Charlotte). However, Madrid is farther from Lucena. It is accessible by a 2 hour train ride to Córdoba, followed by a 40 minute bus or car ride to Lucena. Or if you choose to rent a car, Lucena is a 4.5 hour car ride from Madrid. Buses from Madrid are also an option but the journey is about 5 hours.
Train
Renfe is a great option for those traveling from Madrid to Lucena. The train would take you from the Madrid train station (Puerta de Atocha) to Córdoba. The journey lasts 2 hours, then you would need to get a BlaBla car, bus, or car to Lucena which is another 40 minutes.
Travel Note
Alsa is a great, affordable option for anyone traveling by bus from Málaga to Lucena, or from Córdoba to Lucena.
Rental Car
BlaBlaCar is a carpooling app where drivers already making a trip offer their spare seats, and passengers can book a ride with them. It’s often cheaper than trains or buses and a great way to share travel costs. Just enter your starting point and destination, and the app will show you available rides.
Travel Note
I would LOVE it if friends and family who are coming to the wedding from out of the country could really take advantage of the trip and use it to travel elsewhere in Spain or in Europe. To help with that, my cousin Kelly Matregrano is a professional travel planner and would be happy to assist with flights, hotels, and creating the perfect itinerary. She knows Europe well and can help make your trip stress-free, memorable, and fun! You can reach her at kelly.matregrano@smartflyer.com. I have also linked her website.
