We recommend flying into Málaga Airport (AGP). Additional airport options and transportation details are listed on the Travel page.
The quickest option would be renting a car. More transportation options—including rental cars, bus, and train connections—are explained in detail on the Travel page of the website.
Yes—renting a car is, in our opinion, the easiest way to get to Lucena from the airport and to explore the area. If you plan to rent a car in Spain, you will need an International Driving Permit (IDP) in addition to your valid U.S. driver’s license. The easiest way to obtain an IDP is through AAA, even if you are not a member. The process requires a short application, two passport photos, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and a $20 USD fee. Lucena has plenty of free parking throughout the city, and free parking is also available at the venue.
We have secured a room block at Hotel Santo Domingo Lucena, listed on the Travel page of our website. Guests are welcome to call or email the hotel directly to reserve a room if they wish. Please note that the reserved rooms will be released to the public at the end of May, so we recommend booking before then if you plan to stay at this hotel. If you prefer other options, there are also Airbnb rentals and additional hotels available throughout Lucena. Lucena is a small town, so accommodations within the town center are easily walkable.
Please RSVP by May 5, 2026. Due to international travel planning, we kindly ask guests to respond by this date. We recommend booking flights before this date, the sooner the better, as summer airfare prices tend to increase throughout the year.
Yes. We have arranged for a shuttle to transport guests to and from the venue. The shuttle will depart from Lucena city center before the ceremony and return guests to Lucena after the celebration.
There is no strict dress code. We recommend elegant, dressy attire, as Spanish weddings—even daytime ones—tend to be more formal than in the U.S. For a summer daytime wedding in Spain, guests typically wear polished, dressy attire in light, breathable fabrics. Think cocktail dresses, midi or flowy dresses, and suits or dress shirts with trousers. Comfortable footwear is encouraged, as parts of the celebration will take place outdoors.
U.S. citizens need a valid passport to travel to Spain. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least 3 months after your travel dates. Visa requirements (if any) depend on your nationality. For U.S. citizens a visa is not required to travel to Spain for stays shorter than 90 days.
Early September in southern Spain is typically warm and sunny with highs in the low 80s and lows in the 60s. Daytime temperatures are usually warm, so we recommend light, breathable fabrics, sunglasses, comfortable shoes, and sunscreen.
The ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors. The reception will be held indoors.
Spain uses the Euro (€). Credit/debit cards are widely accepted, but sometimes charge international fees so be careful. It’s helpful to carry some cash for taxis, cafés, or small purchases.
Most U.S. phone plans offer international coverage, though we recommend confirming details with your provider before traveling. As an alternative, eSIMs are a popular and easy option for international travel and can be purchased and activated ahead of time. We recommend Airalo or Holafly.
