The Wedding Website of Kimberly Johnson and Tiago Almeida
Getting to Salvador, Bahia: It’s a LONG way. The flight is overnight from the East Coast of the US and then a flight most likely from São Paulo to Salvador, which is about 2 ½ hours. **US Citizens don’t need a VISA to enter Brazil anymore.

Hotel

Fasano Hotel

88 Rua Vitório Fasano, Cerqueira César, SP 01414-020, Brazil

The luxury hotel in Salvador is the Fasano. It’s located near Pelourinho, which is the historical center of Salvador. If you want to hang in the hotel or be mostly in the historic center, this is great. If you want to be mostly at the beach, it’s a short (and cheap) Uber ride, but probably not the best option. (about $325 a night)

Hotel

Rede Andrade Mar Hotel

419 Rua da Paciência, Rio Vermelho, BA 41950-010, Brazil

The Rede Andrade hotel in Rio Vermelho is inexpensive and super bare bones, however you can hear the waves at night, the breakfast is decent and it is across the street from the shrine of Iemanja, you can walk to great restaurants and cafés. Ask for a room with an ocean view. We stayed there for a week last summer and it grew on us, as basic as it is. ($35/night)

Hotel

Mercure Salvador Rio Vermelho

215 Rua da Fonte do Boi, Rio Vermelho, BA 41940-360, Brazil

A middle ground choice which I thought was really nice, was the Rio Mercure hotel. ($85/night)

Travel Note

Air BnB

If you are looking on AirBnb, we recommend the neighborhoods, Rio Vermelho or Corredor de Vitoria. Also, if you would like to room with someone who is coming to the wedding, let us know. There are a lot of GREAT people who are coming! Rio Vermelho has a bohemian vibe, the shrine to Iemanha, and great street food. Corredor de Vitoria is a main street that has rows of condos and hotels that have ocean views. You take the elevator down below ground level and they have docks out into the ocean, where you can swim. Most of these buildings have pools and restaurants.
