How to get to Sésquile/Guatavita

Guatavita and Sesquilé are two charming towns located approximately 50-60 kilometers northeast of Bogotá, in the department of Cundinamarca. Both sit at an altitude of around 2,700 m.a.s.l. Guatavita is more oriented toward tourism and offers stunning views, as it is located right in front of the Tominé Reservoir (Embalse de Tominé). Sesquilé, on the other hand, has a more local atmosphere and a stronger commercial presence. How to Get There from Bogotá You can reach Guatavita and Sesquilé by bus, car, or private transportation (Uber, taxi, or hired service). By Bus: Buses to Guatavita or Sesquilé depart from the Salitre Bus Terminal or the Portal del Norte (North Bus Terminal). The trip takes about 1.5 hours, depending on traffic, and drops you off in the town center. Most buses heading to Guatavita also make a stop in Sesquilé. By Car: Driving from Bogotá to Guatavita or Sesquilé typically takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes, covering 55–65 kilometers. While driving in Bogotá can feel hectic, it’s manageable—especially around this time of year, when traffic is usually lighter. Note that there are two tolls, costing approximately $22,000 COP (€5–6) in total (only one toll on the return trip). Be sure to have cash on hand, and avoid the "Telepeaje" lane unless you are sure that your vehicle is equipped with the appropriate tag. By Uber, Taxi, or Private Service: Private transport options are readily available and usually starts from $100,000 - $150,000 COP (€20 / €30). It’s a good idea to book in advance, especially during busy times or weekends.

Cómo llegar a Sesquilé/Guatavita

Guatavita y Sesquilé son dos pueblos encantadores ubicados aproximadamente a 50–60 kilómetros al noreste de Bogotá, en el departamento de Cundinamarca. Ambos se encuentran a una altitud de alrededor de 2.700 m s. n. m. Guatavita está más orientado al turismo y ofrece una hermosa vista del Embalse de Tominé. Sesquilé, por otro lado, tiene un ambiente más local y una presencia comercial más marcada. Cómo llegar desde Bogotá: Puedes llegar a Guatavita y Sesquilé en bus, carro o transporte privado (Uber, taxi o servicio contratado). En bus: Los buses hacia Guatavita o Sesquilé salen desde la Terminal de Transporte Salitre o el Portal del Norte. El viaje dura aproximadamente 1 hora y media, dependiendo del tráfico, y te deja en el centro del respectivo pueblo. La mayoría de los buses que van a Guatavita también hacen una parada en Sesquilé. En carro: Conducir desde Bogotá hasta Guatavita o Sesquilé suele tomar alrededor de 1 hora y 10 minutos, recorriendo entre 55 y 65 kilómetros. Aunque conducir en Bogotá puede parecer caótico, es manejable—especialmente en esta época del año, cuando el tráfico suele ser más ligero. Ten en cuenta que hay dos peajes, con un costo total aproximado de $22,000 COP (solo hay un peaje en el viaje de regreso).
