RIC is around a 1.15 hour drive to Camp Friendship. There are plenty of direct flights available into RIC and flights are generally much better priced than flights into CHO.

IAD is the largest airport in the Washington, DC/northern Virginia area, located 80 miles from Charlottesville. If you're opting to fly into IAD because you'll spend some time exploring the DC area, please note that IAD is around a 2-hour drive from Camp Friendship. Reach out to us if you're interested in carpooling to the wedding, most our friends and family will be coming from the northern VA/DC area!

We reserved a room block for our guests who prefer not to stay at camp. The rooms have 2 queen beds and the rate is $162 per night. You can book one or both days (October 4-5). The hotel is a 15-minute drive to Camp Friendship and a 10-minute drive to downtown Charlottesville. The Best Western has an indoor heated pool, hot tub, complimentary breakfast, and ADA accessible features. Call (540) 832-1700 to book your reservation and let them know you are with the "Ta/Hanley Wedding" to get the group rate. Please make reservations as soon as possible. The cut off date for booking is September 4, 2019.
House Or Rental
There are plenty of hotel options in the surrounding areas that are further away from Camp Friendship but more affordable. Shenandoah Crossing is a 35-minute drive from the venue and prices start at $90 per night. In addition, Charlottesville is known for its many charming bed and breakfasts. Prospect Hill Plantation Inn (20-min drive to venue) is a lovely choice for a romantic getaway while you're here! There are also plenty of AirBnB options. Whatever you choose, we recommend booking ASAP as many places are already full due to the high demand of tourist season in October (autumn leaves and the University of Virginia football games).
Travel Note
One of the reasons we wanted a camp wedding was so we could have our favorite people around us for the entire weekend. If you love the great outdoors, we hope you'll stay at camp with us for one or both nights! You can also bring your own tent! Accommodations are rustic. The cabins are summer camp style with twin bunk beds. Each cabin has its own shower/toilet facilities (with hot water) and electrical outlets. Cabins are insulated and have windows, but if it gets hot or cold, heaters and fans are available. You must bring your own linens. See the packing list below for more info. Cabins are $25/person/night. To book by credit card/debit card/bank transfer, please go to www.paypal.me/MaryThanhTa. You can also pay cash to the camp that weekend. Cabins sleep 4-8 people, but we will not fill up each cabin. We'll assign cabins based on what makes sense so you are not staying with strangers; if you have any requests, let us know. Click on the link to view a virtual tour of the cabins.
Travel Note
If you forget anything - don't fret. We'll have some toiletries & extra comforts to make you feel right at home.
