It’s a classic tale of fate—and a little bit of geography—putting two people in each other’s paths, over and over again, before they finally took notice. Jake and Gianna first met in 2002 at Las Vegas Day School, but the story didn’t really get interesting until 2004. That year, both of their families—completely unaware of each other—decided to make a bold move to Medford, Oregon, and enroll their kids at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Imagine their surprise when, on the first day of 1st grade, they bumped into each other again in a completely different state! It wasn’t exactly love at first sight (they were 6 years old), but it was certainly the beginning of something interesting. Fast forward a few years: The Koentopps returned to Las Vegas, while the Isolas stayed in Oregon. Life went on, and they lost touch for years. Then, in 2021, the universe decided it was time for a reunion. Gianna was randomly selected by her Master’s program to complete a 3-month clinical rotation in—of all places—Las Vegas. On Day 1 of her stay, Jake spotted her on Hinge (of course), sent a message, and, secured a first date. On their first date it became immediately clear to both of them that this was something special. Exactly one month later, they made it official, and despite the challenge of a long-distance relationship (Gianna finishing school in California and Jake starting his business in Vegas), they made it work. Fast forward to today, Jake and Gianna are finally under the same roof in Las Vegas, where life continues to be a little bit sweeter and a lot more fun. And on October 11, 2024, while hiking through the beautiful hills of San Luis Obispo, Jake popped the question, she said yes, and they can’t wait to start this next chapter together!
