Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Gillian Weatherford and Will Richardson
Here are a few of our favorite spots in the area we'd recommend you check out while in town! Below are recommendations across Carmel, Pebble Beach, and Monterey. Pebble Beach and Monterey are roughly 5-15 minutes by car from downtown Carmel. There's more than enough to do for a long weekend just in Carmel but there are amazing places across all three so wanted to include them here :)

Monterey Bay Aquarium

886 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA 93940

Truly the best aquarium in the world & a unique experience. We'd recommend booking tickets in advance.

Alvarado Street Brewery

426 Alvarado Street, Monterey, CA 93940

Great spot for casual food and drinks.

Point Lobos State Natural Reserve

Amazing hikes here. A feast for the eyes!

Hog's Breath Inn

San Carlos Street, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93921

Fun spot for a drink owned by Clint Eastwood, who was the mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Will and his family have enjoyed many mugs of hot chocolate on the patio over the years.

Ad Astra Bread Co.

479 Alvarado Street, Monterey, CA 93940

Arrive early for great baked goods and breakfast sandwiches.

Rise & Roam Bakery & Pizzeria

7th Avenue, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93921

Another good spot for casual food.

Elroy's Fine Foods

15 Soledad Drive, Monterey, CA 93940

Going to a local grocery store while traveling is always a highlight and Elroy's is a true (and fancy) joy. Pick up some unique snacks or coffee and fuel up for your adventures.

Monterey Bay Coastal Trail

Monterey Bay Coastal Trail, Monterey, CA

This trail can take you from Sand City onto 17 Mile Drive. It's a great bike ride, long walk, or run! Gillian's family has loved biking this trail in the past few years.

17 Mile Drive

17 Mile Drive, Del Monte Forest, CA

One of the most scenic drivers on the planet... especially if you're an avid golfer. You can catch glimpses of all the famous courses including Pebble Beach. Some of our favorite places to stop off on the driver are Lone Cypress, Seal Rock Beach, and Point Joe. It's best to drive or bike it but there are a number of great places to get out and walk as well.

Carmel Mission Basilica

3080 Rio Road, Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA 93921

Founded in 1771, this mission features a museum on California's cultural and religious history.

Big Sur

CA

A short drive from Carmel, check out Bixby Canyon Bridge, Pfeiffer Falls, McWay Falls, and Garrapata State Park.

Carmel Valley

Carmel Valley, CA 93924

Further inland, there are lots of popular wineries, Carmel Valley Creamery, and some very nice hotels and spas.

The Bench

1700 17 Mile Drive, Del Monte Forest, CA 93953

The Bench is a part of the Pebble Beach Resort and is a little price-y, but it has an epic view overlooking the 18th hole and you can see all the way to Point Lobos. One of the best views on the Peninsula.

Art Galleries!

Carmel, CA

There are lots of charming and fun galleries in downtown Carmel!
