Our Story, as told by Taylor

no-brain·er (noun): something that requires or involves little or no mental effort

1000 BCE: The Egyptians are believed to create the modern Alphabet. Early 1900s: The DiRenzo and Iezzi ancestors migrated from the Abruzzo region of Italy to The United States of America. The "I" in Iezzi is dropped along the way, and a new surname, “Ezzi”, adopted in its place. September 1973: Richland, New Jersey, USA. Richard DiRenzo & Tom Ezzi start their freshman year at St. Augustine Prep. Lockers are assigned in alphabetical order with DiRenzo and Ezzi landing adjacent. 1973-1977: Richard and Tom form the foundation of their lifelong friendship. 1989: Richard and his wife Lin welcome their first child to their family; Elizabeth Grace. 1990: Tom and his wife Julianne welcome their third and final son to their family; Taylor James. 1992: Tom and his family migrate from Hammonton, New Jersey to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. 2019: Taylor goes on a beer run with "Uncle" Richard when he visits the Ezzis during their annual New Jersey beach trip. Taylor adds Elizabeth on Instagram. July 21, 2021: Taylor makes the first contact with Elizabeth on Instagram sending a 😍 in response to a picture of Elizabeth’s new puppy, Ioli “Pie” DiRenzo. Unbeknownst to him, this little doggy would be sleeping on his head 2 years later. Oct 25, 2021-July 15, 2022: Elizabeth responds to Taylor’s Instagram story, a cartoon about a vampire with a “dope ass cloak”, spurring a nonstop conversation for the next 10 months. Topics included the woes of dating apps in your 30s, Elizabeth's upcoming travels (the girl don't stop), Nacho Cheese Doritos, Taylor’s intense ambivalence towards different number combinations, and a plan to meet up at the beach the upcoming summer. July 15-22, 2022: The Ezzis travel to Avalon, NJ for their annual beach trip. Elizabeth flies from Atlanta, GA to “visit her family” and see if this pen pal is as dreamy as he has seemed for the better part of the previous year. He was. Maximizing their time together during the short week, a conversation is had about how manageable long distance could be. Elizabeth convinces Taylor that it will be easy. She was right. Dec 15, 2022: After 6 months of alternating visits, countless FaceTimes, 2 weddings, and even a Friendsgiving, Elizabeth drives 11 hours non-stop, house in trunk, Ioli in lap, to move to Pennsylvania to live with Taylor and his two cats, Murph and Ernie. Aug 3, 2023: After 231 days of cohabitation, Taylor proposes they spend the rest of their lives together. Elizabeth agrees. Ioli is rumored to have made a nonverbal commitment as well. And to think, if the I in Iezzi stuck around, or if the ancient Egyptians had placed D and E further apart, these two lovebirds would have to eat ice cream alone.
