Wedding Party

We aren't having a traditional wedding, and are still coming up with the details of the ceremony. This page will be updated further as we craft our vision!

Lauren Shaw

Maid of Honor

I guess she's been preparing for this day since we were kids! It will come as no surprise that my beautiful sister Lauren Shaw is my maid of honor. She is already taking her maid of honor duties to heart! Days after finding out I was engaged she wrote her speech! And she started sending me pictures of wedding dress and hair ideas right away- many of which I had actually already found and saved myself! She knows her sister well. I am so honored to have her love, friendship, and support during this momentous occasion, and throughout our lives. She was the first person in my life to teach me compromise, communication skills, genuine friendship, and how well opposites can attract- traits that have all helped me in my relationship! She is so much more than a sister to me. Soul-bestie for life!

Justin

Best Man

Erik’s younger brother Justin will be at his side yet again for our day! It takes a lot to pull him away from fishing (if it were winter during ice fishing season we wouldn’t stand a chance), so we’re very touched and honored to have him as part of the ceremony! Before Justin and I had ever met, Erik commissioned me to leave him a voicemail as Butters, a character from South Park they watched which I impersonate well. I asked what else Justin likes to make the message more personal/funnier. I was told ice fishing, the Tigers, Beevis & Butthead, ice fishing, and ice fishing. I of course went all out, and felt a little shy about it when I later met him! He told me he loved it so much he’d replay it often! I guess he shares his brother’s fondness of accents. It was then I knew we were family!

Sara

Bridesmaid

We met working a catered event at the NY Historical Society. We hit it off instantly and talked non-stop, pausing only to help the guests who kept rudely interrupting asking for service. We rode the subway home and kept the talk going. Neither of us wanted it to end, so she invited me to her place. The rest is history! We’ve had many adventures- hiked, traveled, even acted together- and lived 15 min from each other for years. She supported me through rough times of the heart. I might not have met Erik if not for her! We did our first spiritual medicine ceremony together, opening me to healing I’d been searching for, around the same time Erik did his, aligning our paths. She even sensed I was getting engaged before it happened! She’s become one of my best friends and is like a sister to me.

For all the days along the way
