A typical winter Saturday for Charlie and Chris involves heading up to Loveland Ski Area to get some turns in–Charlie on her skis, Chris on his snowboard. (Ugh, an outdoorsy, active couple? Barf. I know, but keep reading.) This particular Saturday was the 10th of December and a perfect bluebird day on the mountain. Without a cloud in the sky, the sun shone warmly down on Charlie and Chris as they rode up Lift 6. Charlie was feeling particularly relaxed. Like, REALLY relaxed. “I could fall asleep right now,” Charlie said to Chris right beside her. Chris paused for a moment, a little concerned. “...Why would you do that?” “No, I know it’s not safe, like, I’m obviously not gonna do that. But I’m just telling you that I’m really relaxed right now.” Chris kept looking around at the ski trails below from his vantage point high above. Needless to say, he was a little less relaxed than our girl Charlie at the moment, for whatever reason… “Hey, when we get off, why don't we go off to the left and head towards the meadow,” Chris proposed (ok, poor verb choice, but you get it). “But let’s stop where the trails split and we’ll check out the conditions from there and decide what run we want to do.” “Sounds good,” Charlie agreed. The two skied/boarded over to the spot by the trees where they planned to stop when Chris suddenly fell on his a$$. "Are you okay?!” Charlie shouted from a few feet away. "Yeah. Can you come here for a second?” Chris asked. "Why?" "I think there's something wrong with my bindings.” "You've got to be kidding me!” Charlie groaned, as these were brand new bindings. Charlie skied over to Chris who was, at this point, propped up on both knees. One boot was strategically unclipped from his bindings. Some of you are skipping ahead, aren’t you? By the time Charlie was standing in front of him, Chris swung one foot in front and retrieved a small wooden box from his jacket pocket. "Will you marry me?" *Disclaimer: Profanity.* "Are you serious?!?! Shut the FUCK UP! You’re lying!!! Are you kidding me right now?! STOPPP!” This goes on for a couple minutes. The two are laughing and smiling, until Charlie finally says the words that every proposing man wants to hear… "Wait, can you ask me one more time? I wasn't ready.” Chris laughs. "Will you marry me?" Charlie pauses for a long time with a huge wide-eyed smile on her face. "Yes."
