The Wedding Website of Joe Babarsky and James Barton
We are so excited to share this trip to Santa Barbara with you! It's one of our favorite places in the world and we appreciate that it takes some effort and planning to get to. Below, please find some travel and lodging tips. Our most important recommendation? Book ASAP, as we're already hearing that hotels are filling up. Check out AirBNB options. Sometimes hotels will be sold out but have rooms that can be booked with loyalty points Ride-shares are generally easy to find, so staying outside of Santa Barbara-proper but nearby (Montecito, Carpinteria, Goleta) could be great options.

Train

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner

This train leaves from Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles and drops you off right in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone, convenient to hotels, shops, and restaurants.

Flight

Santa Barbara Airport

Flying into Santa Barbara is a great, convenient option if there's a flight that works.

Travel Note

Santa Barbara Airbus

The Santa Barbara Airbus is a good option for folks looking to get directly from LAX to Santa Barbara if you don't want to have a rental car while you're here. The ride takes a little over two hours and you're dropped off in walking distance of the Santa Barbara Zoo at the Hyatt Centric. Round trip fare is about $100.

Hotel

Hyatt Mar Monte Hotel

1111 East Cabrillo Boulevard
Santa Barbara, CA 93103

Practically next door to the Santa Barbara Zoo and right on the beach, this is our go-to Santa Barbara hotel. The main facilities have been recently renovated and it can be advantageous to book with Hyatt points (James Tip! The redemption rate for points is VERY favorable and booking with points may unlock otherwise unavailable rooms). This is also where the Santa Barbara Airbus picks up and drops off.

This hotel is *outside* Santa Barbara but a nice, affordable option if you have a car and care less about being right in the Funk Zone neighborhood. Ride-sharing services are also plentiful.
