Terrace Level

Historical Elegance and Charm

With the Grand River and beautiful gardens as your backdrop, the Terrace Level creates a romantic setting for weddings, formal or relaxed occasions, and other social events. The meticulously maintained gardens are a perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony, cocktails, al fresco dining, or photographs. The beautiful gardens and gazebo provide a romantic setting that is sure to make your event memorable.

Included in this room:

Your rental of the Terrace Level includes exclusive use of the brick patio, gardens, and charming gazebo for your event. This contemporary room has six sets of French doors that open out to the patio and gardens. Up to 140 guests can be seated inside the room reception style. Versatile lighting is available, including sconces that cast a warm glow on the rose-tinted walls. A dance floor is installed in one end of the room that opens onto the patio.

Grand Hall

Historical Elegance and Charm

This elegant ballroom on the main level can accommodate up to 240 guests reception style. You can create lasting memories by having your special event in the faithfully restored Grand Hall. This two-level room features three enchanting 12-branch chandeliers and a stunning double stairway leading to a full wrap around balcony. Your guests will be captivated by the historic architecture and picturesque views that overlook our formal gardens alongside the Grand River.

Your rental includes use of the entire balcony, expansive wood floor that can be used as a dance floor, set up of tables and chairs, and an Activity Host for the duration of your event. The Blake Room is an additional meeting space and is included in the rental. This room can be utilized as a dressing area.

Yes, the Opera House is wheelchair accessible. For access into the Grand Hall we have a ramped entrance into the building. Those guests using the Terrace Level can drive down the back driveway to the Terrace Level.
The Opera House allows alcoholic beverages at rental events. You are responsible for complying with Michigan state laws pertaining to the serving and use of alcohol. There will be no cash bars allowed without a state license permit, which will be your responsibility to obtain.
The Opera House parking lot will accommodate 45 vehicles. There is a City parking lot across the street from the Opera House parking lot which can also be used, along with street parking. Both options are free.
A date is secured when a contract has been completed and signed, and a deposit equal to one-half of the facility rental cost for your event has been made.
We strongly recommend using a caterer from our Preferred Caterers list on the Resources Page, as they are familiar with the Opera House and help ensure a smooth event. There is no additional fee to use a preferred caterer. If you choose a non-preferred caterer, there will be an additional per-person catering fee applied, which is due 15 days before your event. Non-preferred caterers are also required to provide proof of a valid kitchen license and liability insurance before approval.
