HMNS is a world-famous museum! Its permanent exhibits are very strong and they always have amazing travelling exhibits as well.
One of our favorite areas in the city, thus why we chose it for our venue ;) the park itself is much larger than the little corner where our ceremony will be, and includes everything from a Japanese garden to golf.
A fun little downtown park! In the “winter” months, an outside ice rink will be set up. The park is near the convention center and basketball stadium, plus in the middle of multiple downtown restaurants!
A favorite street of individually owned shops - a record store, a bookstore, a toy store, and many small boutiques! Also Boomtown Coffee, one of the shops in the permanent rotation to attend.
If you live in Houston or have visited us, we don't even need to explain. We are rewards members... at a taco joint. After our proposal, we celebrated... at Velvet Taco. It might be in the top 5 of reasons why we still live in Houston.
Our favorite burger joint in Houston! We are regulars... They have amazing burgers and are set right in the middle of East Downtown (EaDo) where there are popular bars like Truck Yard, 8th Wonder, and True Anomaly brewing in walking distance. Rodeo Goat also features "dueling burgers" which are two rotational burgers, not available on the regular menu. A tally of orders is shown on a scoreboard visible when you walk in. If you go, also be sure to order the Moontang, a frozen drink that's basically like a mimosa and blue moon combined. It's delicious.
Our favorite barbecue in the city! It's the perfect combination of great, authentic, food and a chill, fast-casual, experience. If you've visited us before, you've more than likely been taken to Brookstreet.
One of our other favorite Barbecue spots in Houston! The food is extremely high quality and well-known. We would go more often if it weren't so well known... you usually have to wait in line for 15-20 minutes. Clearly people love it!
Our favorite pizza place, and where we went on our first date! The pizza is good enough for Joe to not make snarky comments about New Jersey pizza being superior. Also, the pizza joint is attached to Axelrad, which is a hammock bar with great beer and cocktails. We love to spend a night out in the hammock courtyard drinking and eating pizza. Sometimes there is live music. Other times, there are anime movies playing on the outdoor screen? It's a fun place.
POST is truly one of the special places in Houston. It is most often used for it's world-class food court that has award-winning restaurants serving meals food-court style. The also host several markets, including one of our favorites, the Makers Market. Last but not least, they have a huge rooftop park with the best view of downtown Houston. We try to take everyone here to get food and take pictures on the rooftop.
This is a small, do-it-all Mediterranean grocery store and hot food market. It's one of our favorite places to walk around in, either grocery shopping, finding dinner, or searching for exotic grains and oils. It's centrally located in downtown near Discovery Green and has reserved parking spots in the parking garage on McKinney in between Austin and La Branch.
Bet you've never had Cajun-Hibachi before! In addition to the wild food, they also serve delicious frozen drinks.
If anyone’s invested in the outcome of Texans v Jags, they play on 11/9 at NRG!
