Travel Note

Don't forget to check your passport!

You will need a passport for travel to Mexico, so now is a good time to check your expiration date! I'll never forget showing up at the airport Christmas morning on my way to Mexico, only to be told my passport was expired and I couldn't fly. Don't make that mistake! If you don't have a passport and need to apply for one, we suggest starting that process ASAP as it can take a while.

Flight

San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico

If flying from the US, we recommend flying into SJD - it is about a two hour drive south of La Ventana. There is also a Soriana (supermarket) close to the airport you can stop at to get supplies for the week. There are a few shuttle services to La Ventana but they tend to be pretty pricey. If possible, try to arrive early afternoon so that you aren't navigating the roads at night. The drive to La Ventana is not well lit and there are lots of roaming cows in the area. We invite you to join us from Saturday the 19th to Saturday the 26th, so you can really enjoy the area!

Baja Joe's

We will hold the ceremony on the beach in front of Baja Joe's, with a cocktail hour and reception in the courtyard to follow. Joe's is conveniently located on the main road into town, and within walking distance or a short bike ride or drive to many restaurants, markets, and housing options. This is also where the wedding party will be staying.

This is a local site and has the most listings of vacation homes for rent in the area. On the map, you can see Elevation Kiteboarding School, which is located at Baja Joe's Resort. You can easily walk, bike, or drive around town. There are some small grocery and mini-mart stores for basic food and drinks, as well as a number of delicious local restaurants.

La Ventana Bay Properties

A local property management company with lots of options of houses to rent. Take note of location, and how far you want to be from Baja Joe's. You can easily walk, bike, or drive around town, and even the houses farthest away are less than a 20 minute drive (most roads are dirt). There are some small grocery and mini-mart stores for basic food and drinks, as well as a number of delicious local restaurants.

Located right next door to Joe's, this boutique hotel has a variety of cabanas and is right on the beach and close to the action. Some units have kitchenettes, and all rentals here include breakfast and lunch, and access to bikes, paddleboards, kayaks, etc.

Also known as Delaney's, this hotel is located right next door to Baja Joe's, and has simple, budget friendly accommodations right on the beach. If you want to be close to the action, this is the place for you!

A boutique hotel with a variety of room options, including larger houses for families or intimate casitas. Right on the beach, and walking distance from Baja Joe's.

A great choice for folks who want to be a little farther away from the action, Palapas Ventana is a collection of private palapas (thatch roof casitas), about a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk on the beach from Joe's.

Club Cerralvo Condominios

A great option for couples or families, Club Cerralvo is a condo complex with a variety of room types, most with a small kitchen, and about 5 minutes from Baja Joe's. It has a pool and hot tub, and includes access to bikes and kayaks as part of your stay! You can also find listings for these units on Air B&B or VRBO.

Casa Tara Hotel - Wellness Yoga Retreat

This is a beautiful boutique hotel about a 5 minute drive from Baja Joe's. It is on the beach with gorgeous views, an infinity pool, and spa. They also host yoga classes and have a delicious vegetarian restaurant.

Luxury glamping in over-sized canvas tents on the beach! If you want something unique and rustic, this is the spot for you. It's right on the beach, and about a 10 minute walk on the beach from Baja Joe's.

Avis Car Rental Airport San Jose Del Cabo

It's about a 2 hour drive from the airport to La Ventana, so we recommend renting a car. Any of the large companies should offer a good selection and upfront pricing. It's best to book with a credit card that carries rental car insurance so you don't get upcharged for that in Mexico.
