Shortly after our 2nd anniversary, and a year of living together (through COVID-19!) we took a much needed long weekend in D.C. to visit our friends Ryan and Jeff. We spent a very hot, but lovely, day at the National Zoo where we saw giant pandas! Both of us were amazed at just how incredible they were, and Kate certainly thought that would have been the highlight of the day. After some resting and cooling off, we headed out to walk to National Mall before meeting Ryan for drinks. Despite the heat, the Mall was gorgeous - and incredibly empty thanks to COVID-19 and the closed museums - which made for an intimate setting. We took a break near the Reflecting Pool and the WWII Memorial for Kate to fix her shoe. While sitting there, Zac sneakily had the ring in his hand and proposed.
