Question

Do I need a passport to attend?

Answer

Yes, a passport as well as a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority and an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy is required for travel. A link to New Zealand Immigration is included on the "Travel" page of our website. You can apply for an NZeTA and pay for an IVL there. Please keep in mind that passports can take up to 6wks to arrive.

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP online via our website's RSVP tab no later than 13 July 2028 as this is around the time our venue and catering will need our final numbers. If for any reason you are no longer able to attend, please let us know asap.

What if I'm unable to complete the guided walking tour?

Answer

If you feel you are unable to complete the tour due to health risks or disabilities, please let us know as soon as possible as accessibility options are very limited and accommodation is not guaranteed. Collapsible walkers and wheelchairs are permitted. Keep in mind that paths are very uneven and may be difficult for some wheelchairs.

What if I miss the hotel block?

Answer

Unfortunately, once the cut off date to secure a room passes, we can no longer offer discounted rates at our recommended hotel. You are more than welcome to contact the hotel and inquire about booking a room at full price. In the event that the hotel is full, feel free to reach out to us and we will assist in finding you an alternative.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes! Please show up in your Shire best! We encourage all our guests to have fun with their outfit and dress as if they belong in Middle Earth.

Are kids allowed?

Answer

No. We are planning to have a childless wedding, with the exception of the flower child and the ring bearer.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The wedding ceremony and aperitivo will be held outside in the Hobbiton Gardens while the reception will be held inside the Green Dragon Inn.

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Any alcoholic beverages will need to be purchased out of pocket. All tap beverages are crafted specially for Hobbiton and can only be purchased from the Hobbiton Movie Set. They offer house made ale, apple cider, spirits and wine as well as a non-alcoholic ginger beer that can be purchased by the glass.

Can I take pictures/videos with my phone?

Answer

We kindly ask that during the wedding ceremony our guests remain "unplugged". If you would like digital copies of the pictures our photographer takes, please reach out to us and we will get them to you once received. Once the ceremony has concluded, we encourage guest to take as many pictures/videos of their tour and the reception as they wish.

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Answer

Each RSVP will have the option to add a plus one. Please fill out information regarding your plus one, such as their name and whether or not they will be attending.

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Yes! You can find our registry under the "Registry" tab above. Included are cash advances to help with our biggest expenses for the wedding as well as a tangible wishlist. Please send all gifts directly to our home, do not bring any gifts to the wedding. This helps reduce the amount of things we have to bring back home with us overseas.
