It was a balmy April night in El Paso, TX at the Hope and Anchor bar. Neither CJ or Yanyu had particularly wanted to go out that night, but their friends convinced them otherwise. CJ's groomsman Frank spotted Yanyu and her Maid of Honor, Karen, seated nearby and tried to go break the ice. Being the great wingman that he was, CJ swept in to save what was turning into an awkward situation. He broke the ice by nearly breaking his coccyx after tipping the stool he was lowering himself into over and going along with it! Fortunately Frank, the hero, was able to save the drink from his hand and everyone started talking in good humor. Yanyu was pretty quiet that night but with some barely remembered Mandarin, CJ was able to get her number and, thanks to Karen, secure a date the next week. The following date was non-stop conversation for hours about electro-chemistry and fuel cells, and that was when it was clear that it was meant to be.
