As seen on Netflix's "Street Food Latin America", we highly recommend heading upstairs and eating either at Tolú or La Esquina de Mary. All of the restaurants in the plaza offer delicious assortments of affordable, traditional Colombian cuisine. The frijolada, chuleta valluna, and jugo de lulo en leche are to die for! If you're into seafood, try Doña Mary's "Rompe-colchón" fish soup for a long, fun night! ;)
Biblioteca Pública Virgilio Barco
Book worms and park lovers rejoice! One of the cutest plans on a sunny, breezy day in Bogotá is visiting the Virgilio Barco Public Library, located in Bogotá's central park, el Simón Bolívar. Surrounded by a beautiful fountain and grass, this sector is popular for kite flying and, for the Stanford alumni, fountain hopping!
Salt Cathedral
One of the first landmarks that Alan visited when arriving in Bogotá, and one of first activities that Alan and Richard did with Whitney, the salt cathedral is an architectural and natural marvel. The cathedral was constructed underground within the salt mines in Zipaquirá, a town slightly north of Bogotá!
Piedras del Tunjo Archaeological Park
Located in Richard's hometown, Facatativá, and also the first place where Alan met Richard's late best friend, Angie, the Piedras del Tunjo Archeological Park is the only urban archeological site in Colombia. In the Park you'll find historic rock formations dating back to the Cretaceous period, many of which contain 10,000 year old paintings from the early civilizations of what is now Colombia.
Paramo de Sumapaz
The largest moorland ecosystem on the planet, el Páramo de Sumapaz, located near Bogotá, is a beautiful excursion for hiking and nature lovers. Get to know an ecosystem unique to South America!
