Bogotá in July is like June in San Francisco - all day, every day. The weather averages between 60 - 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and sometimes drops to the mid-50s during the night. A little less like San Francisco, Bogotá is known to be very unpredictable: in the morning it might drizzle, at noon it might by sunny without a cloud in sight, in the evening there might be a downpour or hail shower, and then the night clears up again. Pack light to mid-weight sweaters and bring a small umbrella - it may come in handy! - Bogotá en julio es como un junio en San Francisco, o Perote, Veracruz - todo el día, todos los días. El clima mantiene un promedio de 18 - 22 grados Celsius, y a veces baja entre 2-6 grados Celsius por las noches. ¡Como cuando entra un norte a Veracruz! Bogotá is organized through a numeric grid - all streets are numbered, with few having proper names, which makes it a haven for directionally challenged folks! Uber and Didi are available for ride sharing, and Taxi cabs drive around the streets frequently. Bogotá also has an extensive public bus transportation system - SITP and Transmilenio. You can purchase a Transmilenio Card at any Transmilenio Station forr $15.000 COP ($4 USD) and recharge it at any station to ride the system, cash only. - Bogotá se organiza con un sistema cuadrado. La mayoría de las calles están numeradas, con pocas teniendo nombres oficiales. Uber y Didi están disponibles, y los Taxis pasan frecuentemente por las calles. Bogotá también ofrece un sistema de transporte público extenso - el SITP y el Transmilenio. Pueden comprar una tarjeta de Transmilenio/SITP en cualquier estación de transporte por $15.000 COP, o $70 MEX. La tarjeta se puede recargar en cualquier estación de transporte, solo con efectivo.

It depends on your provider. For example, AT&T's Unlimited Data Plan includes unlimited data usage in 19 Latin American countries, including Colombia. As an AT&T user, Alan hasn't had problems using his cell phone when in the country. Please check in with your cell phone provider to learn about their international Roaming plans. Alternatively, you can temporarily buy a SIM Card with Claro, Movistar, or Tigo to use during your stay. - Depende de tu proveedor. Por ejemplo, el plan pre-pagado de Datos Ilimitados de AT&T a veces incluye servicio en 19 países latinoamericanos. Tendrían que comunicarse con Movistar, Telcel, o cualquier empresa que sea su proveedora de internet para aprender sobre sus servicios de Roaming. Alternativamente, pueden comprar una tarjeta SIM con Claro, Tigo, o Movistar (Colombia) durante su estadía en Colombia.

How safe is Bogota? - Que tan segura es Bogota?

Answer

Bogotá is safer than many other Colombian cities, but like any other large city, it's not without its shortcomings. As you would be in cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, New York, be vigilant and aware of your surroundings, and avoid holding your phone out or away from your body in crowded spaces. Likewise, do not openly flash large amounts of cash in public. Invest in an over-the-shoulder bag (or fanny) to store your belongings - some of our guests have done this when visiting us before! Much of this is common sense, and is not exclusive to Colombia or other Latin American countries. - Bogotá es más segura que otras ciudades en Colombia, pero como cualquier otra metropolis, tiene sus problemas. Como en la Ciudad de México, Monterrey, Guadalajara, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Ángeles, Nueva York, o cualquier otra, debe ser precavid@ y estar pendiente de su entorno. Evita tener el celular por fuera o alejarlo demás mientras tomas fotos, especialmente entre mucha gente. Invierte en un canguro para guardar tu cartera, celular, u otros documentos importantes - !muchos de nuestros amigos han hecho esto cuando nos han visitado¡ Mucho de esto es sentido común, y no es exclusivo ni de Colombia ni de Latinoamérica.
