Wedding Party

Get to know the faces you'll see up front

Anna Carpenter

Bride

To know her is to love her, and to love her is to shake your head in exhaustion.

Vince Cherny

Groom

The man. The myth. The gaping maw of hunger for which there is no fill.

Ian Carpenter

Man of Honor

Anna and Ian met in 1996 when he was born. He is the brother of the bride and similarly loves cooking, Parks and Rec, and quoting early 2000's rom-coms.

Stephen Cherny

Best Man

A true Renaissance Man, the middle brother of the three Cherny boys has been everything from a model in LA, to an actor in a Mediacom commercial, and is now a med student at KCU.

Mara Huebner

Bridesmaid

"Anna and I met as freshmen at Coe College in 2012. Anna, Haylee, and I joined the same sorority in our first few weeks and bonded through the years at Coe as we learned how to live like "adults". By senior year, we were sharing an apartment and though that experience had high and low points (mostly high, except for an infamous scrubby brush), we survived and are still best friends! I have so many wonderful memories with Anna over the years and I'm so thankful for our friendship. One thing I know for sure is that Anna's been head over heels for Vince since the first day that I met her and I'm so honored to witness the next step in a lifetime of love and happiness!"

Drew Parker

Groomsman

Inventor of the "Rummy D" Currently residing in Minnesota, Drew and Vince have kept in touch since high school where he was a frequent attendee in The Basement and its subsequent mischief.

Haylee Wasson

Bridesmaid

Haylee and Anna met their Freshman year at Coe College when they both joined Alpha Omicron Pi, and after living together for their Senior year, Haylee has a lot of dirt on Anna...because she was the messiest roommate. Haylee has consistently been a wonderful friend with whom Anna has had many conversations about faith, family, and which appetizers and cheesecakes to order at the Cheesecake Factory.

Ashlin Berthelsen

Groomswoman

One of Vince's core gang, they've been friends since high school. As such, Ashlin has witnessed the complete oeuvre of the relationship as she was in attendance at the mustachioed proposal and now both weddings. Conclusively, Ashlin is a thoroughly wicked cool dude.

Nene Nwaturuocha

Bridesmaid

"Anna and I met in high school. After becoming fast-friends in an art class, we decided to take things to the next level and become locker partners. Our locker, however, was no ordinary locker. We needed something to satisfy our always-hungry teenage stomachs. So, we kept an oversized tub of cheeseballs to ensure we would never go snack-less again. Each passing period, we would share some laughs and some puffy fake cheese. As we dove our angsty teenage hands into our communal cheeseball tub, we knew we’d created something special. We would be best friends forever. Even back then, I knew one day Anna would marry Vince. Through my eight years of knowing them, their love has remained a true example of what means to find a soulmate. I am so happy I get to be a part of their special day."

Kevin Boudoin

Groomsman

Vince was the stranger on the internet Kevin's mom warned him about. Kevin is the couple's hook-up to culture as he works for the San Diego Opera. The two were introduced by a mutual friend Vince met through online gaming while still living in Iowa and an eventual face-to-face friendship bloomed to encompass immeasurable Korean BBQ trips, D&D campaigns, and jaunts around San Diego.

Scott Carpenter

Father of the Bride

Anna's fellow Capricorn, he feels she is the only one who truly understands his humor between the four Carpenters. Scott also purchased Anna's first camera for her, which she uses to this day, and shares her deep admiration for overalls, fried pickles, and Dean Koontz.

Cindy Carpenter

Mother of the Bride

"I am so proud of Anna. She has developed such a strong sense of self.  She is brave, independent and talented. I worried about her every day that she spent the semester in Italy, but I know it helped shape who she is today. When Anna was in Washington obtaining her Masters, she fought every challenge presented and won!  She has proven family is more than important, it’s imperative. When Vince let us know he wanted to marry Anna, we couldn’t have been more pleased. Our hearts are so full, we love him and overjoyed to call him son. We are so happy Anna is marrying her best friend, someone who encourages her and makes her laugh daily. Scott and I will always be there to support both them, we are so excited to share in their adventure."

Ruthann Cherny

Mother of the Groom

As the only daughter in a family of four and mother of three boys herself, Anna was a welcome female presence in the family for Ruthann. A New Jersey native, it is also reassuring to know where she can now consistently get delicious, authentic cannoli (thanks to Grandma Carpenter's recipe!).
