FAQs

The Wedding Website of Anna Cecelia and Vincent Gavin
Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

To the ceremony? Absolutely! To the reception? No, thank you. We ask there be no children in attendance as alcohol will be free flowing and we think parents deserve a night off too!

Question

How the Heck Do I Pronounce Your Hashtag? #toitnups #bestandoldestfriends

Answer

Vince and Anna love to watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine together on Saturday mornings before breakfast. So much so that Vince requested we use the catchphrase "toit nups" from the show, as Jake and Amy are an example of a fun-filled relationship blossoming from a friendship and of continued laughter post-matrimony. Watch at the beginning of this clip if you want to learn exactly how to say it, because we will be all day! https://twitter.com/nbcbrooklyn99/status/930812645988372485?lang=en

Question

Where do we park?

Answer

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND coordinating a carpool or Uber/Lyft from the ceremony to the reception as there is EXTREMELY limited parking at Rollins. Our friends and family are very amiable, just go up to somebody and ask if there is room in their car! Otherwise the venue is only 10-15 minutes away and would be a very cheap ride with a service (a good option for going to the ceremony from your hotel too, especially if you plan to imbibe during cocktail hour and dinner!) Should you not wish to interact with anyone outside of your group, Keck Parking will provide a shuttle between the Christ the King and the reception at Rollins. If you decide to use alternative transportation listed above, please transfer and leave your vehicle in the school parking lot so the parishioners for 3pm Mass have parking. This will be the location for shuttle pickup and drop-off too.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

Grab a program and confetti, and please be seated in a pew (pick a comfy one, we'll be there for a while) no later than 12:45pm so the ceremony can begin promptly at 1:00pm. We are having the ceremony between two normally scheduled masses, so it is important that we don't delay the parishioners in their normal, weekly schedules. After the ceremony, please exit through the main door to wait for the bride and groom to exit for the confetti toss! Then you may proceed to Rollins at your leisure for cocktail hour and dinner!

Question

What's for dinner?

Answer

Dinner is catered by Delmonico Catering and we have selected a variety of delicious hors d'ouevers and three signature cocktails (or other beverages of choice) for cocktail hour. Dinner options are pasta, pork, or cod selection with sides of rosemary potatoes and broccolini. Bread from South Union Bakery and a fall salad will be served prior to the entree. Cake is provided by Molly's Cupcakes here in Des Moines, though Anna first fell in love with them in Iowa City during her collegiate years. You'll have the choice of chocolate raspberry or carrot cake with brown butter frosting--both delectable!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We ask that you wear cocktail attire--but something comfortable! We want our guests to look and feel great enough to dance the night away after sitting/kneeling/standing during the ceremony. Not to mention, Rollins is a gorgeous location for some great profile pics.
