Trenton and Mariah’s love story is so silly and unsuspecting, you might find it hard to believe at first. Let’s paint the scene, shall we? It’s the first week of freshman year, a girl from Upstate New York and a guy from Southern California, both in Lynchburg for training week with the Liberty Worship Collective. Mariah’s boyfriend at the time followed her to Lynchburg for school and Trenton came to LU having told his California friends that there was no way that he was going to date freshman year. They were both set…right? The beginnings of their friendship is thanks to Trenton who invited her to eat with a group of people so she wouldn’t be alone. This launched a little freshman friend group. The group did everything together and pretty quickly, Mariah and Trenton became the best of friends. Only a few weeks into school, Trenton realized that he really liked Mariah and (somehow in the sovereign Lord’s timing) Mariah had conveniently broken up with her boyfriend the same weekend. As time passed, people began to notice that there was something going on between the two, but they both refused to acknowledge the love that was growing for each other. Then, one fateful day, their story took a massive turn and this time it was all thanks to Mariah. She meant to send a text admitting her crush on Trenton to a friend but accidentally sent it to Trenton himself. I know, just like those tacky rom-coms, but somehow it happened. They took a walk that night to talk about everything and the rest is history.
