"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us."
How does anyone meet these days? We connected through a dating app! Before we met in person, Tosin asked Kayla if we could share our faith journeys over the phone. We did, and were both happily surprised with what a genuine and easy-flowing conversation it was. Meeting in person confirmed that there was a spark. We got curry and chai tea at a quirky little Indian spot, and exchanged stories about childhood, funny experiences, our life with Jesus, and our hopes for the future. Tosin remembers loving Kayla’s cute mannerisms and her beautiful deep smile when she told stories. Kayla remembers being charmed by Tosin’s unaffected sweetness and authenticity... and--let's be honest--by how cute he was! It was the best first date.
It was a rainy Thanksgiving weekend, and we had just spent the day at Kayla’s Grandma’s house in Inverness. Little did Kayla know, Tosin had been carrying around her ring for weeks and looking for the right opportunity to pop the question. When the stormy weather ruined his plans for a beach or hike proposal, Tosin conspired with Kayla’s roommate Erin to decorate the apartment with flowers, candles, and string lights. When we returned to Oakland from Grandma's that night, the living room was transformed. Kayla took one look at the flowers and lights and said, “Oh!! You’re going to propose!!!” He did. (In case you couldn’t guess — she said yes.)
