Our Wedding

September 26, 2020

As you all are aware, the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to cancel our Asheville wedding which had been planned for October 16, 2020. We thought about delaying our marriage for another year, but after 6 years of dating, this just seemed ridiculous! Instead of the huge party we originally planned, we ended up having an intimate ceremony at St. Stephen's Catholic Community and dinner party at my Aunt Cathy's beautiful home. It turned out absolutely perfect and we are so grateful to our closest family members for making the day so special. Since the Covid vaccines and boosters are available (and the pandemic looks to be with us for awhile...), we've decided to proceed with plans for a one year anniversary party in Asheville. We realize it may be a little silly to have a second celebration after the first one turned out so well, but we really want to get our favorite people together in a city so close to our hearts. Plus, we had planned a really great party and it seems a shame to miss out on that! So come, join us as as we celebrate love, life, family, friends and the chance to gather together again.

How We Met

September 30, 2014

I had an extra glass of wine one night after dating a few "frogs" and decided to join Match.com. Eric reached out first and sent me a message just as I was boarding a plane to Chicago for the Notre Dame/ Michigan game (we destroyed them by the way), but it took a few weeks before we could connect for a date. Finally, on September 30th, after a week working nights at the hospital and with only a few hours of sleep in me, I met up with Eric at The Falcon Bar in Thornton Park. It turns out, we were neighbors and lived just two blocks from each other! Eric was noticeably shy and since I'm used to engaging people in conversation (and because I had a few shots of sake), I rambled on and on about my family, football, work and probably every topic under the sun, trying to get Eric to talk, but he just listened. I was fairly convinced that he thought I was crazy and this would be our last date, but he surprised me with a kiss goodnight and several follow-up texts over the next few days, asking for another date. Eric remembers that I was "pretty and smart" and that he "couldn't get a word in," but also that we had a lot in common.. He was interested in finding out more... Our relationship started slow, but I soon learned that this shy guy, who may have seemed a little aloof on our first date, actually remembered almost everything I ever told him. I also learned that I felt at peace in his presence. It seems he felt the same.. I've said it before, but it remains true-- We are two very different parts, but together, we are whole. Perfect complements.
