Fate brought us together on Friday, September 29th, 2017. Our eyes met across the crowded room of Vin de Syrah, an iconic wine parlor in San Diego.   We were both living in Little Italy. Rand was ready to embark in a new chapter of his bachelorhood (little did he know, that was his last night) and Laura was starting to explore the new city she was about to call home. Meeting each other that night was not on the agenda. Rand was on a double date (his roommate’s wingman that night) and Laura had agreed to an impromptu date with 2 girlfriends. The night was supposed to be a casual Friday night out, not the beginning of their love story...   It started when Laura and Rand locked eyes from across the room of Vin de Syrah. Both were busy with their respective groups, but Rand was waiting for his chance. When Laura finally went up to the bar, to her surprise, Rand quickly came up beside her. Rand was smooth and casually mentioned something regarding her height. Knowing this encounter at the bar would quickly come to an end, Rand gave her a cocktail napkin with his name and number. Laura, with a sparkle in her eye returns to her table to tell her friends all about this chance encounter.   A little time goes by and Laura tells her friends she is going to find out a little more about this tall mystery man. Laura approaches Rand and his friends, not connecting the dots that this group of friends looked exactly like a double date, and started conversation with Rand. Within a matter of seconds, Laura started to realize he was on a double date. She switched gears and casually mentioned to him that her and her friends were going to a different venue. She says good night and texted him her information. Ball was now in his court.   And that's how it all started! After that night, Rand reached out to Laura and their courtship began in Little Italy. They didn't realize it at first, but they were neighbors! Rand only lived 2 blocks up the street from Laura. Their dates consisted of evening walks to get dinner and drinks around Little Italy. It was so nice walking to all the date night spots since they lived in the middle of everything. Drinks became dinner, which then became concert dates, which then became travel adventures, and eventually visiting each other’s hometown and meeting each other's family. Rand and Laura will always cherish their memories of falling in love in Little Italy.   Before they met, Laura and Rand had spent years going out to try and meet the right person. Laura met Rand the very first night she went out with her friends in San Diego, and Rand met Laura the first night he made Little Italy his new home. The universe told these two to stop looking and enjoy being young professionals starting out their careers in love. Here they are, 5 years later starting their next adventure in life together, marriage.
