At a bustling neighborhood bar in the Funk Zone of Santa Barbara, it was early March of 2020, just days before the world would be fully shut down due to Covid. Kristina spotted Mike from across the bar at Seven and knocked (yes, knocked) on Mike's shoulder. Perhaps their paths had previously crossed throughout the many years Kristina had lived in Santa Barbara, Mike's native turf, because Kristina was convinced that she knew Mike from somewhere. After comparing notes: "Do you play volleyball down at East Beach?" "Are you from Santa Barbara?" "Did you go to UCSB?" "Do you work in the service industry?" Mike and Kristina realized that they had no common threads. Despite that, they smiled at one another and easily fell into conversation. . Weeks after their first brief encounter, their first date was a socially distanced walk around More Mesa in Santa Barbara. Mike brought the snacks, Kristina brought the wine. They chatted until the sunlight left the horizon and the conversation never stopped flowing. There was an instant connection. After a few more dates, they became inseparable, met each other's friends, and started forming a deep bond. Kristina moved to Boston for nursing school just days after Mike asked to make their relationship official. After almost two years of long-distance, made bearable by several cross-country trips to see one another, they moved in together in Santa Barbara and started their lives as co-habitants. They fell deeper into love, traveled together far and wide, learned more and more about each other, and now, it's time to get married!
