Katie and Luke frequently eat here, sometimes even by boat when they're out on the water! They HIGHLY recommend the Yellow Fin Tuna Sandwich! The perfect spot for lunch or a casual dinner. This place is very unique in that you order your food first, then grab a beer, and lastly, your table. They will drop the food off at your table when it's ready! If they're busy (most of the time they are) be prepared to give them a hat or sunglasses which they use to mark your table.
Fishy Fishy Cafe
Katie and Luke love grabbing a bite to eat at Fishy Fishy! Some of their favorites include the Crab Dip, the Carolina Seafood Plate, and the Fish and Chips. Make sure to try some Hush Puppies, too!
Joseph's Italian Bistro
Katie and Luke love a good Italian spot, especially since they live in New Jersey! This place is the BEST in the area with roots up in the northeast. The Chicken Parmesean is delicious! They also serve delicious bread and oil as a complimentary app!
Lowes Foods of Southport
You can grab groceries from Lowes during your stay! The best part? You can grab a beer from their bar INSIDE the grocery store and drink while you shop. They even have cupholders on the shopping carts!
Oak Island Beach
Oak Island is the best place to hit the beach and enjoy the ocean breeze!
Southport
Southport is the cutest little seaside town. There are tons of charming shops and markets, wooden swings overlooking the waterfront, movie set locations from Safe Haven, restaurants, wineries, breweries, boat rentals, and so much more!
American Fish Company
This is Katie and Luke's favorite place to grab a drink on the water! They usually have live music and the best spot to watch sunset on the water. You can often see dolphins from here. This was "Ivan's Fish Shack" in the movie Safe Haven!
Silver Coast Winery Tasting Room
Katie and Luke love to come here for a glass of wine in Downtown Southport!
Southport Tap and Cellar
Katie and Luke love to spend time at this local brewery! They usually have food trucks to grab a bite while enjoying your beer. Sometimes they even have adult slushees!
North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher
This the perfect kid-friendly spot. You can take the Fort Fisher Car Ferry to the aquarium. You drive your car right on to the boat and it takes about 30 minutes to get there by ferry.
Bald Head Island
There is a passenger ferry that will take you over to Bald Head Island. You can rent golf carts or bicycles to tour the island. Cars are prohibited which adds to the fun! Some of Katie and Luke's favorite spots to eat are Jules Salty Grub and Island Pub and The Jailhouse Restaurant.
Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach is about 1 hour from Southport, North Carolina. There is a ton to do in Myrtle Beach! Katie and Luke love Barefoot Landing, especially Blueberry's Grille for breakfast and Crooked Hammock Brewery for dinner (they have tons of outdoor games and areas to hangout before or after you eat!) Katie and Luke also love Broadway at the Beach, especially Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville! The Tanger Outlets are also located here for some great shopping.
Wilmington
Wilmington is about 30 minutes from Southport, North Carolina. Wilmington is a fun city full of adventure, good eats, and sights to see. Katie and Luke's favorite restaurants in Wilmington are Front Street Brewery, Anne Bonny's Bar and Grille and The Copper Penny. Fun fact- The Copper Penny was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives! Anne Bonny's Bar and Grille is a floating barge in the river and is a really cool experience for outdoor dining. The best ice cream can be found at Kilwins. The famous RiverWalk is perfect for an evening stroll after dinner to watch sunset. If you enjoy One Tree Hill as much as Katie and her Maid of Honor, Abigail, they highly recommend visiting the different TV set locations that are sprinkled throughout Wilmington.
