Q+A's

Question

Can you tell us more about utilizing the light rail?

Answer

Of course! The Doubletree by Hilton has a light rail stop no more than a 3 minute walk away called the "7th Street" stop. You can open Apple Maps, search your desired location, and then change the method of travel to "public transit by train" to give you the exact walking path, time, and station names. Additionally, below is a link to the light rail schedule if you want to plan ahead. If you want to go North, select UNC Charlotte Main Station to head that direction. To go South, select I-485/S. Blvd Station. Make sure to change the day to Weekdays, Saturdays, or Sundays as the schedule changes per day. Tickets to ride the light rail are $2 and can be purchased on the CATS app; however, we have been riding the light rail since moving to Charlotte and have never been asked to see "a ticket." https://www.charlottenc.gov/CATS/Rail/Rail-Routes-and-Schedules

Question

Is the ceremony at St. Gabriel's walkable and or light rail distance from the Double Tree?

Answer

Unfortunately, St. Gabriel's is not within walking or light rail distance from the hotel. It is approximately a 15 minute drive away, so please plan accordingly to get to the ceremony as our ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00pm and you must be seated with ample time before. There is a large, free parking lot at the church if you decide to drive yourself versus uber/lyft.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

If you receive a "plus-one", it will be listed on your invitation. We, as a couple, have taken careful consideration to create our wedding guest list and are excited to have our wedding filled with people we know and love. With this in mind, if you still feel as though you should have a plus-one and did not see it on your invitation, please reach out via text.

Question

Are children allowed to the ceremony at St. Gabriel's?

Answer

Yes! We do ask for your careful deliberation on if you think your child would be an appropriate guest to attend the church ceremony. It is very important to us, as a couple, that the focus of our day is the sacrament of marriage and our union through the Catholic Church. If your child begins to be disruptive during the ceremony, please promptly take a moment to bring your child outside until appropriate.

Question

Are children allowed to the reception on the roof?

Answer

Yes! If your child or family is listed on your invitation, they are welcome to join in with the fun at the reception. However, if you would like a well-deserved parent's night off, reach out to Lauren who can help connect you with a babysitter who will watch your child in the hotel for the duration of the reception. There will also be a kids lounge before and during cocktail hour full of child appropriate food and games as our reception unfortunately does not offer a suitable child's dish.

Question

What should I do with the time between the ceremony and the reception?

Answer

The ceremony will be wrapped up around 3:15/3:30pm and the rooftop cocktail hour reception will begin at 5pm. Take this time in between to relax and freshen up, enjoy a drink at the restaurant Forchetta bar downstairs beforehand, or explore a local spot nearby. At 5PM, feel free to venture up to the roof for hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and the party to begin!

Question

Is there a dress-code?

Answer

We suggest that ladies consider wearing a midi or full length semi-formal dress or pantsuit, and men dress in a suit. Consider factoring in that the ceremony will be indoor St. Gabriel's Catholic Church and, while we are crossing our fingers for a beautiful spring weather evening on the roof of the hotel to follow, you may want to check the weather for days leading up.

Question

What if it rains?

Answer

If it rains, unfortunately the reception will have to move from the roof to inside the hotel's event space. No fear, the dancing and celebration will still commence, but all prayers for a rain-free evening will be appreciated!

Question

Will there be meal options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?

Answer

Yes! We plan on having an entree choice to accommodate guests with dietary restrictions. If you dietary restrictions, please let us know in the designated section of your digital RSVP when it comes. We want you to feel comfortable and well fed!

Question
