Like all great modern love stories, ours began with a swipe right and a Hinge date. It was one of those classic Sydney evenings, and the universe seemed to be having a bit of fun with us. Emma was running late after two Ubers canceled, while Chris, ever punctual, had arrived early. As he nervously waited, we soon discovered that the “perfect pub” we’d chosen between our two houses in Balmain — The Cat and Fiddle — was, in fact, an old man pub. Not exactly what we had imagined, but we rolled with it...up the street to The Sackville instead, where we shared our first kiss. When it was time to leave Balmain, Emma mentioned that Chris had a football game the next day. Our taxi driver perked up, curious to know Chris's favorite football team. Without missing a beat, Chris confidently replied, “The Matildas.” Emma was instantly impressed. Here was a man who proudly backed the Australian women’s team over any men's team in the world — and this was long before the World Cup fever! And then there was the small matter of us being so different yet surprisingly perfect together. Emma was a musician, and Chris, well, was deaf. What could have been a challenge turned into a strength. We found harmony in our differences, connecting in ways that felt natural and easy. It's been that way ever since. We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with you. With love, Emma & Chris
