The first time we met was the first day of school at Boston College in the Fall of 2015. Chris was late to orientation, after having just lugged his personal belongings up three flights of stairs to his shabby apartment in Oak Square. He was disheveled but excited to learn. Laura had been on time and also excited to learn. They ended up being in two classes together in their master's program. Chris was very intentional about making sure that he was in the same study group as Laura. This worked out well as Laura was an excellent student, but it also gave them an opportunity to build a friendship. Months wore on, the presidential primaries heated up, and weather became frigid. There was a night of dancing at The Middle East in Cambridge. Soon after, there was a first date in Harvard Square - a quiet dinner at The Grafton Pub, book browsing at the Harvard Bookstore and a walk through the Harvard Yard. It was the beginning of something serene, beautiful and lasting. Five years later, Laura and Chris are getting married an hour south of Boston, in a place that has always been special to Chris and has really grown on Laura. Being coastal people (but not elites!), the ocean is important to both of us. The ocean brings freedom, mystery and at times, a transcendence of the human condition. We believe our union will bring the same qualities. Come celebrate with us!
