Lodging

Here are some lodging options for your stay in Ottawa! There will be a shuttle bus starting at 11 PM from Le Belvedere after the reception. The drop-off location will be at the Ottawa Embassy Hotel and Suites. Le Belvedere has a large parking lot and vehicles can be left there until noon, Monday (5/16).

Hotel

Ottawa Embassy Hotel and Suites

25 Cartier Street
Ottawa, ON K2P 1J2, Canada
 +1 613-237-2111

This is the hotel we have arranged a group rate block at and where we will be sending the shuttle later in the night during and after the reception. The hotel is just off of Elgin street and a short walk from Parliament and the Byward Market. For the hotel group rate, please call and ask to book under "Lauren and Colin's Vow Renewal."

Hotel

The Business Inn & Suites

180 MacLaren Street
Ottawa, ON K2P 0L3, Canada
 +1 844-997-1777

This hotel doesn't do group rates, but we always stay here when we visit Ottawa. It's a bit far from the venue, but it's around the corner from the Ottawa Embassy Hotel (where we organized a room block and where the shuttle will be dropping off the night of the reception). This is absolutely the next best option if the room block is sold out. The rooms are suites with at least a kitchenette. The hotel is down the street from Parliament and across the river from the Byward Market!

Hotel

Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Airport

2400 Alert Road
Ottawa, ON K1V 1S1, Canada
 +1 613-288-9001

This is the cheapest hotel in the greater Ottawa area that isn't a hostel. It's farther from the venue, and you likely won't want to walk to any of the sightseeing in the city from there.

Hotel

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gatineau - Ottawa, an IHG Hotel

11 Impasse de la Gare Talon
Gatineau, QC J8T 0B1, Canada
 +1 819-503-8800

This hotel is closer to the venue, but farther from Ottawa and most of the other things to do in the area (plus it's in Quebec, so everything will be in French. Yuck). If you want to drive yourself to and back from the ceremony and reception and/or don't intend on going to Canada early to sight see (or if you'd rather drive everywhere), then this might be the better option.

Travel Note

Staying As Close to the Venue as Possible

There are no chain hotels in Wakefield, the town the venue is in. However, there are a few different small hotels and Bed and Breakfasts. The area seems to mostly get ski-themed tourism, so the rooms may be relatively cheap in the spring!

Travel Note

There 100% Are Safe Hostels in Ottawa

If you're on the younger side and feeling adventurous, there are hostel options for as little as $50 CAD a night in the downtown and Parliament districts, Colin has stayed in a few of them before. Some offer private rooms with shared bathrooms and common spaces, and others are beds in communal rooms. Ottawa is a pretty safe city, and you should feel safe staying in a hostel if you so choose, just be sure you know ahead of time which kind of room you're booking.

Travel Note

Shuttle

We plan to at least have a shuttle set up to take guests back from the reception to the Ottawa Embassy Hotel and Suites. If there is enough interest we may try to set up a shuttle system to take guests to the ceremony as well (which would also be from the Ottawa Embassy Hotel).
