Wakefield is a small town about 15 minutes north of Gatineau and 20 minutes north of Ottawa, Ontario (yes, that's in Canada!)
You must have a valid enhanced license (not accepted for flying into the country) or passport and proof of vaccination against Covid-19 (which is also required by the venue). You must use the correct system to upload and validate your proof of vaccination. You will be turned away if you show up at the border with just the paper card. As of April 1st, Canada is not requiring negative Covid tests to enter the country. CURRENTLY THE DEFINTION OF FULLY VACCINATED DOES NOT INCLUDE A BOOSTER, BUT THAT MAY CHANGE. We strongly suggest all of our guests receive booster shots for the vaccine, Canada has been pretty good about announcing any changes to policy well in advance, but we would hate if some of our guests were refused entry to the country because there was a change in the definition of fully vaccinated that they didn't notice. All of the current guidelines, requirements, and a checklist can be found at: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid
If you find yourself asking this question, then it is possible that you have received the invitation by mistake. Please disregard I guess? Better yet, please let us know so we can figure out who it was meant for! Equally likely is that you're suffering from horrible amnesia. If you don't know what that is, go watch Finding Nemo. Or Momento? It won't help much....you probably won't remember it either....but at least you'll have enjoyed yourself for 90 minutes. Anyways, if you're sure you're a stranger, please don't show up. If you aren't, then please reach out. Please. Your family misses you. We all miss you. Even if you don't know who that is.
With our friends and family spread out all across the northeast (mainly), we decided to find somewhere that everyone would have roughly equal travel time to. Plus we love Ottawa, it's an incredible place. Also, it was hilariously close to us when we lived in Potsdam. Of course, now we're in Maryland and/or Nevada so consider yourselves lucky, most of our guests have a significantly shorter journey than us now. Time makes fools of us all I suppose.....
If you live in NY or VT (or Michigan, Minnesota, or Washington) then you can get an enhanced driver's license which will allow you to DRIVE into Canada. If you live in any other state or plan on flying then you need a passport. They can take up to 2 and a half months to come in, so don't dally!
No. But also yes. Given the distance everyone will be traveling, we imagine many of our guests with children would like to bring them. Given the setup of the venue and the environment we would like to create for our guests, we have decided not to have children at the wedding or reception. However, we know a weekend to Canada would make a pretty lousy family trip if the kids had to stay home. We are open to making arrangements to have a sitter or something comparable set up for anyone who would like to bring their kids for the weekend to be able to leave them for the ceremony and reception We obviously don't know what the details would be yet, but please reach out if you would like to bring your children for the weekend and would be interested in some sort of joint childcare.

For starters, it will be an open bar. We don't hate all of you or ourselves. Please plan accordingly. Also, somewhere between a plurality and a majority of the guests are under 30 (but over 19), so please attend with the proper......expectations... for the reception. \m/ (>.<) \m/
