Question

What airport do I fly into?

Answer

You have two options: Del Bajío International Airport (BJX) in Leon or Querétaro Intercontinental Airport (QRO) in Querétaro. Both airports are about an hour and fifteen minutes away from San Miguel. Both airports are considered very safe and convenient for those traveling to San Miguel. Please see the Travel page for directions from the airports.

Question

What day should I get there?

Answer

Our callejoneada starts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday March 13th. This traditional parade through the streets of San Miguel is great fun and we hope you can get to town early enough to enjoy the festivities with us! The wedding will be Saturday, March 14 at 4:30 p.m. with shuttles to the ceremony leaving Hotel Real de Minas beginning in the afternoon.

Question

Is there a hotel block?

Answer

Yes. We have a block of rooms reserved at Hotel Real de Minas. This is the largest hotel in SMA and one of the most economical. Please see the Travel page for more information and to get the block code. San Miguel de Allende is known for its historic properties and boutique hotels. Although shuttle service to the ceremony will leave from Hotel Real de Minas, we encourage our guests to explore opportunities to stay in uniquely beautiful local hotels or in one of the incredible homes offered through platforms like Airbnb. Whatever your choice, be sure to book well in advance, March is the height of wedding season and hotels are already selling out!

Do I need a passport?

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We would like our guests who come to the callejoneada on Friday to wear casual white as we dance through the streets! Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as we will be dancing and parading through cobblestoned streets. We will end up at a rooftop bar where guests can spend the evening or venture out on their own! Dress for the ceremony and reception is semi-formal / Cocktail The average high in San Miguel during the month of March is about 77°F (25.0°C). The low averages about 50°F (10°C). This might be slightly chilly for our Texas folks and a still be a little warm for our Oregonians! Please dress accordingly.

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

Yes. We kick off our wedding weekend with a callejoneada on Friday, March 13th at 5:00 p.m. A callejoneada is a traditional Mexican wedding march through the streets, complete with paper mache mojigangas, and a band! Come kick off the weekend with some dancing and join us after the parade for a toast at one of our favorite rooftop bars! We fell in love in San Miguel and we encourage you to fall in love with the city! Many guests will choose to spend additional time in San Miguel to enjoy its many gifts. This enchanting city is home to over 350 restaurants and markets situated among remarkable architecture, cobblestoned streets and brightly colored Spanish-colonial buildings. The 64-block historic center is so unique and picturesque, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site. We encourage our guests to spend some time in this top travel destination if you can.
