When Taylor and Jordan first met in May 2015, they were sitting in a classroom at Arizona State University. Both decided to do a crazy thing and get a master degree and teaching certificate to teach high schoolers science. They didn’t date, but instead became friends. Taylor and Jordan and their friends played board games (pretty competitively), drank wine at Postinos (bottle + board is life), and talked about teaching, life and everything under the sun. In November of 2017, the stars aligned for Taylor and Jordan. She realized that he wasn’t just her friend, but he was her best friend, her partner, her guy. He thought she was smart, amusing, and beautiful inside and out. They both think they’re the lucky one. :) Since then, they’ve traveled the world and Pacific Coast together, played more board games (still competitively), drank a lot more wine, and have camped out in the woods as much as possible with their dog, Mack.
Taylor decided to embark on another crazy adventure and get a second master degree at NAU. She moved up to Flagstaff in June 2020 with her adorable dog, Mack. Jordan was still living in Phoenix, but came up throughout the summer to spend time with his favorite member of the Stephens family - Mack... I mean, Taylor. :) On a particular Sunday in July, Jordan insisted that Taylor, Mack and he should go hiking because “Mack would really appreciate it.” They decided to hike up Mars Hill, which is where Lowell Observatory is located. When they reached a bench along the path, Jordan asked Taylor to stop for water. While she was turned and getting the water, Jordan kneeled, took out the diamond and told Taylor that she was his best friend and the person who he wanted to adventure with for the rest of his life. When he said, “Taylor Ann Stephens, will you marry me?”, she said, “Yes, a thousand times yes”. They celebrated with a kiss and a hug (with each other and Mack). They hiked back to Taylor’s house for champagne, FaceTime celebrations with family and friends, and Bellinis and pizookies at Oregano’s.
