We'll be eating, drinking, and dancing at Shelby's parent's house, so no pressure to dress super nice, unless that's your jam. Shelby will dress up because it's her jam.
Yes and no. We're having a more traditional ceremony + reception in France and will be getting legally married there THEN coming back, getting officially hitched in the US and hosting a reception for friends and family in Los Angeles.
Yes, our goal will be to put together a very entertaining event even if you don't know French.
Yes, and also clearly you know English you just asked that question in English.
First of all, we really don't want you to spend your money on gifts for us. That said, people are nice and like to give people wedding gifts, and if you are one of those people, check out the "registry" tab.
We're trying to keep kid invites to a bare, relatives-only minimum due to space and budget constraints. Sorry!
Whenever you feel like it! We recommend arriving Wednesday or Thursday before the wedding as we have fun activities (bar crawl, wine tasting, countryside jogs, picnics etc.) planned beginning Wednesday.
We recommend spending the days leading up to the wedding in Toulouse as it's central, and will be our home base from Tuesday until Saturday. Saturday night, we recommend either booking a hotel or Airbnb in nearby Cazaux-Saves where the wedding will be, unless you plan to drive from Toulouse (about 30 minutes, no big deal).
Have you ever watched La Dolce Vita, toward the end where they're all at that castle and Nico (as in Nico and the Velvet Underground) is there for some reason and it's like a super bougie cocktail party where everyone is too cool to act like they're having fun and they're all running around the ancient grounds having a weird fun time? That's kind of the style we're going for. If you don't know that reference, cocktail is sufficient.
In all honesty, French weddings are about 90% cooler than American ones. There is no rush, the cocktail hour lasts until we are good and ready to eat dinner. Dinner lasts hours so everyone has time to chat and enjoy one another's company. Then we dance until the next day. More details on how to make it through a wedding in a foreign land will be available at the event via pamphlet.
If you're French, yes. If you're American, maybe.
Whatever you want! But also, we'll be organizing an itinerary of fun local events and get-togethers for everyone in town since we know you're traveling from around the world just because Shelby got a crush on some French dude and now they're getting married.
Allow me to Google that for you...
In 2015 Shelby had the same question and wound up running around the streets of Paris declaring she was a Vampire until Simon dragged her back to the car and told her to stop hissing. Buy the ticket, take the ride. Leave a beautiful corpse. We're all in this together. Water will be provided.
**Wet Hot American Summer joke about hot house corn** We will have options for devout veggies, but all the rest of you are eating whatever delicious carcass we put in front of you.
Surprisingly, the French play similar music at weddings as Americans do. What you should really be asking is what type of music will we be playing at the wedding given that Shelby is an insufferable music snob and is going to drive the DJ insane.
Yes, we're having a super fun but chill party at Shelby's parents' house in Long Beach! Check your inbox for an invite if you are based in Southern California!
