Question

When should I arrive in Colorado?

Answer

We encourage you to spend a day or two in Denver before we all head up to the mountains Tuesday morning. We will have some optional group activities for those of you planning to stay the whole weekend! We don't recommend you participate in these unless you've recently had COVID or been fully vaccinated. Altitude sickness is no joke and we want you to be feeling your best on our wedding day. We suggest you arrive no later than Monday morning, and stay in Denver until Tuesday morning. The bridal party will go to Vail on Monday evening and stay until Wednesday. Illinois' altitude: 590 feet Denver's altitude: 5280 feet Vail's altitude: 8022 feet If you'd prefer to arrive on Tuesday morning and go straight to Vail, make sure to drink lots of water and pack some Advil or Tylenol. Also try to plan a nap early Tuesday afternoon, you may find that you're extra tired and a little nauseous. You may also be fine. Altitude doesn't affect everyone.

Question

What should I know about the area?

Answer

Colorado is very dry. You will, consequently be more prone to feeling dry. So, make sure to keep water with you at all times, pack some chapstick, lotion, and sunscreen. You're also a mile closer to the sun. The sky is blue-er and the stars are brighter.

Question

I'm renting a car, should I get the toll pass?

Answer

No. The toll-only road (E470) is the outer loop around the city. The tolls are high and there's no reason, based on the locations of things, that you would need to take it. 25 is the highway that runs north/south through the city and 36 is the corridor between Denver/Boulder. They do have an optional toll lane (far left), but if you plan accordingly, you can just use the toll-free lanes. Just make sure to set your GoogleMaps to avoid tolls.

Question

When should we book lodging for the wedding?

Answer

ASAP! Vail is a popular place for vacations; consequently, cabin rentals (Airbnbs) fill quickly. Our advice is to book your Airbnb accommodations no less than 2 months ahead of the wedding. Check their cancellation/refund policies before booking to ensure you're good with them in the event that you need to cancel or reschedule due to COVID.

Question

How far is Vail from Denver?

Answer

Vail is about 100 miles west of Denver and the drive takes 2-3 hours depending on traffic. You should plan to leave Denver by noon on Thursday. Also, keep in mind that you may lose cell service in the mountains. So, pull up your directions before you leave the city!

Question

I'd like to send something to you! To what address should I send it?

Answer

Ours! 20923 E. 40th Place Denver, CO 80249

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail! This means ladies should be in your favorite dress and gents should be in a suit or dress pants. Please do not wear jeans or cowboy boots in any form.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says "& guest", then you are more than welcome to bring a date! If it doesn't, we would prefer you to fly solo.

Question

Sooo.... is there an open bar?

Answer

Yes, thank you for asking the most critical question! Make sure to keep in mind that you'll feel the impact faster at a higher altitude. So, plan accordingly. There's also uber and lyft available for transportation to and from the wedding. Additionally, Vail has a bus system that picks up near the venue and some of the hotels offer a shuttle. So, there's no reason to drink and drive, folks!

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Yes! You're welcome to bring your tots! There's a playground conveniently located next to the venue and there will be food available that kids will certainly enjoy (chicken, potatoes, and mac & cheese).
