Like many couples, we could not have the wedding we planned on 6.18.2020. However, we decided to get married anyway in a tiny ceremony with some members of our immediate family and our bridal party. It was a crazy day filled with rain, last minute changes to times and locations, a garage reception, and lots of love! While it was a fun day and we are glad we did it, we are still REALLY looking forward to celebrating with all of you on September 7, 2021! It will still be a weekday, it will still be in Vail, we will still have a ceremony (vow renewal), there will still be a really fun reception and open bar. Basically everything will be the same except the ceremony will be a vow renewal instead of a first-time wedding. We hope to see you there! We are so excited to celebrate with you! Love, The McClellans
It was Veronica's 28th birthday and I decided two days earlier that I was going to propose. I went and picked up the ring that morning and made dinner reservations. I called my mom to tell her I was going to propose and texted my dad (he was out of the country). Then, I proceeded to take a picture of the ring and draft a snap chat for ALL of my friends. Right before I hit send, I get a text from my dad, "Don't say a word to anybody, you never know how it will get back to her!". Thanks dad-- snap chat deleted, just in time! Veronica and I got to Corridor 44, a restaurant in our favorite part of Denver, and sat down to a delicious dinner. Then, Veronica proceeded to reminisce about how far we've come and how great our life is. I was planning to propose after dinner, outside on the sidewalk, but the moment was too perfect. I pulled out the ring, and asked her to marry me. Her face was priceless with simultaneous shock and excitement. Obviously, she said yes!
We had been dating for a few months and it was apparent things were serious. Neither of us were completely content with life in Illinois and we started talking about future plans and where we hoped to settle down. These conversations revealed that neither of us had intentions to live our life out on the prairie and a shared thirst for adventure. We didn't know where we would end up or when we would go, but we established that we were open to possibilities and being apart from each other was simply not an option. Shortly after these conversations, Veronica got an opportunity to work at the University of Colorado in Boulder and that pretty much settled it. We were Colorado-bound! Veronica started her work in July of 2017 in Colorado. Scott stayed behind to settle affairs in Illinois, but quickly followed in August of 2017 and began work at Power Home Remodeling in September. We are happy to say that we've found happiness and contentment here, which is why we decided to have the wedding in Colorado. We are SO EXCITED to share our lives with you and to have you in this new place we call "home!"
We hadn't been dating long, but the "I love you" was awkwardly and obviously lingering below the surface. Scott had come over after work and we proceeded to pull up our favorite songs and sing them loudly and poorly together (something that has since become a semi-regular occurrence). What happened next is debatable, but the gist of it is that I (Veronica) said, "It's possible that I could, maybe, might love you a little bit." ...Courageous, I know. To which Scott replied, "I love you too." Because Scott's was a statement of resolve and mine was not, I continue to argue that Scott said it first.
Meghann Fosdick played matchmaker and suggested that we simply had to meet. So, she set up a double date between herself, her now-husband-- Logan, and the two of us. The four of us met up for dinner at Rosati's in Normal, IL on a Sunday evening. Dinner conversation was a bit one-sided as Meghann and Scott were friends and I (Veronica) was a total stranger and not totally ready to insert myself in the conversation. Noticing this, Meghann suggested we all go to Cold Stone for dessert, where it happened AGAIN! Thinking the evening was a wash, I started heading to my car. Then Scott followed, asked for my number and suggested we talk. We proceeded to sit in my car and talk until 3:00 Monday morning!
