Airport Options

TVC airport in Traverse City is 45mins from The Cabin and is quite small making it very easy to navigate. GRR airport in Grand Rapids is our preferred airport and is 2hr 30min from The Cabin & Traverse City.

The Cabin is located in a residential area with limited hotels. Depending on your preferences for the weekend, we recommend renting a cottage near Pickerel Lake in Kalkaska (there are other Pickerel Lakes so confirm it is in the right town!) or a condo in Traverse City if you want a more activity. Although our date is outside of tourist season, September is still a popular month to travel. We recommend booking soon. If you are interested in camping, there are numerous options as well including at the campground next to The Cabin. If you would like specific recommendations, please reach out to Sarah.

Travel Note

Transportation

A car will be required for the weekend as public transit isn't available to access The Cabin. Both GRR and TVC airports have the major rental car companies on site. Please be mindful of your pick-up times as they are not often open into the late hours. If in Traverse City, there are local buses that can take you into town and along the water. Ubers are available, but not reliable for long distances such as to The Cabin. If you are struggling to determine transportation, please let us know and we are happy to help!
