Estes Park sits in a beautiful Rocky Mountain valley at 7500 ft elevation, so the most important thing to do in preparation for the trip is prevent altitude sickness - especially for those of you coming from sea level. Altitude sickness includes physical distress (vomiting, headaches, etc.) from difficulty adjusting to lower oxygen pressure at high altitude; but there is no reason to be afraid because it is very easy to prevent! The most important thing to do is drink lots and lots and lots and lots of water before you fly, during your flight, and once you arrive in Colorado. We know you're coming to celebrate, so do your very best to have two glasses of water for every one alcoholic beverage you consume, especially for the first 24 hours. Simply drinking lots of water really will keep you way ahead of potential altitude sickness! Note that you will also feel the effects of alcohol more quickly at high altitude, so it's wise to be a little more mindful of how much you're consuming.
Unlike most of the east coast, Colorado is a state with wide open spaces... and a serious lack of public transportation. Because Estes Park is about 2 hours from the airport, we do highly recommend that you rent a car so that you have freedom to explore. That being said, you can certainly get away without one! See the Travel page on our website for information about booking a shuttle from the airport to Estes, and once you get to Estes Park, there is a free shuttle that can take you around town. If you stay close to downtown, Estes is very walkable, but know that it's more difficult to get into Rocky Mountain National Park without a car.
While we are getting married at a 'farm' in Colorado, the wedding is a formal event and we ask that you dress as such, meaning suits with jackets and cocktail attire - think 'relaxed elegance.' The ceremony and dinner will be on soft grass, so you may want to skip the stilettos! The entirety of the wedding will take place outdoors (in the shade!) so we recommend lighter fabrics as well as a light jacket or shawl for the evening - though Colorado is known for it's gorgeously temperate summer days and nights. We of course want you to be comfortable, but please come dressed in your wedding best!
There will be some transportation available from the two main hotels (The Ridgeline and The Stanley) to the Welcome Party, so please let us know ahead of time if you would like a ride. Shuttles will be provided for the wedding and we ask that everyone coming from Estes Park take the shuttles. There will be one pick up at The Stanley (in the lower parking lot) and one pick up at The Ridgeline at 2:30pm. One shuttle will return to Estes early at 8:15pm, and then both shuttles will depart the wedding at 10pm will drop offs at The Stanley (lower parking lot), The Ridgeline, and the Wheel Bar for the after party. There is no transportation provided for the brunch.
Nope. Any alcohol or marijuana on board the shuttles will void our contract and leave everyone stranded at the Farmette. Please don't do it!
The venue is a 30-40 minute drive from Estes Park down a windy, mountain canyon road; so for your safety, we ask that everyone take the shuttles we are providing to and from the wedding and leave your cars behind. If you live in Colorado and/or do not plan to stay in Estes Park, please let us know.
Please don't take photos during the ceremony! That would make us very, very sad. We hired Brittany - the most incredible photographer around - and fully trust her to capture every moment of the ceremony; so we ask that you please put your phones and cameras away during the ceremony and be fully present with us. After the ceremony, feel free to take all the photos you want! And if you post them to social media, be sure to use our hashtag (#soontobesorcio) so we can see them!
We will be having a family style dinner to encourage good old fashioned cross-table conversation! If you have any dietary restrictions, you can mention them in the RSVP form here on the wedding website and we will make the necessary accommodations.
We aim to be environmentally friendly and thus will only be accepting your RSVP here on our Zola website. Please RSVP as soon as you can! This will really help us in our planning. At the very latest, we ask that you please RSVP on our wedding website by August 1, 2021.
We love your kids so much, but this is a kid-free wedding with the exception of our flower girl and ring bearer. We made this decision after evaluating occupancy limitations and the layout of the Farmette. If you have concerns about this, please let us know.
We are so lucky to have so many loved ones joining us that we are at capacity for the venue. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate plus ones unless we have listed them on the envelope of your save the date and wedding invitation. If you have concerns about this, please reach out to us directly. Thank you for your understanding!
We will be staying at the Residences at The Stanley, along with the wedding party and our immediate families. But Estes Park is small and all hotels listed on the wedding website Travel page are close to The Stanley! Feel free to stay wherever you like, remembering that the wedding shuttles will do pick-ups at The Stanley and The Ridgeline Hotel.
