In true New York City romcom fashion, Sarah and Raph met through a set-up by the best man, Alex. Raph and Alex have been best friends for nearly 20 years, and when Alex and Sarah became co-workers, he knew that she and Raph would get along. After eight months of working together, Alex invited Sarah to a magazine launch party in Hell's Kitchen on April 4, 2017. Turned out Alex had invited Raph too, and he and Sarah hit it off right away talking about film and traveling the world. A few too many Old-fashioneds may have been had by the end of the night, but Raph still somehow managed to walk away with Sarah's number, and as soon as they started texting, the feelings only grew. After just a few weeks of getting to know each other, they were inseparable... and the rest is history.
Raph had planned an elaborate surprise proposal for April 4, 2020 - the three year anniversary of the day he and Sarah first met. Family and friends would fly in from all over to celebrate together in NYC. But the Covid-19 pandemic brought the city to a dramatic halt just a few weeks before the big day, and the plan was no longer possible. But Raph didn't want to wait, so on that overcast spring Saturday in a shut-down city, they took a walk to the waterside park near their apartment in Brooklyn. What Sarah thought was just another excuse to get fresh air during quarantine turned out to be the best moment of her life when Raph dropped to one knee. With only a few masked-up New Yorkers as witnesses, he asked the big question as Sarah cried an abundance of joyful tears (and said yes of course!). Thankfully their dear friend Frank was there to capture it all. Raph and Sarah continued the socially distanced celebration at home with a beautiful (delivered) Italian dinner, a bottle of champagne, and many Zoom calls with friends and family. It may not have been the proposal that was originally planned, but it was absolutely perfect.
Raph and Sarah could not be more excited to host you in beautiful Colorado, Sarah's home state and the first place they traveled together. The venue - Lyons Farmette - is a working produce and flower farm with towering cottonwood trees, a vintage airstream, goats and chickens, and a calm, winding creek. The food catered by Sugar Pine will be truly farm-to-table, highlighting local and seasonal ingredients, and the flowers at the wedding will be straight from the Farmette's flower farm. See you in the mountains!
