Surrounding Area

Located within 1,500 acres of farmland, cider orchards, lovely old villages and equally lovely English pubs, the house makes a wonderful base from which to explore south west England. There are many idyllic walking routes including Cadbury Hill Fort of King Arthur’s Camelot. Local market towns such as Bruton, Castle Cary, Sherborne and Wincanton offer fabulous ancient architecture. All nearby towns offer quirky shopping and most have weekly market days. Snuggled away into many of our local historical towns are some now famous and well known local eateries and art galleries. Or venture a little further to the cities of Bath, Bristol and Wells for cathedrals and grandeur in architecture. There is an eclectic choice of restaurants and country pubs within a very short drive from our location. For sea lovers, the south coast is approximately one hour away for coastal day trips. Easy access by A303 to western coastline or head directly south for some of Dorset’s finest beaches.

The Cotswolds

The Cotswolds

If you’re making a trip of it (and we highly recommend you do), the Cotswolds is one of our favourite holiday destinations and is full of rolling hills, honey-stone villages, country pubs, and postcard-perfect views. Some of our favourite spots nearby: – Castle Combe – often called England’s prettiest village – Bibury – home to the famously photogenic Arlington Row – Bourton-on-the-Water – great for a relaxed wander by the river – Daylesford Organic – a dreamy farm shop, spa, and restaurant – The Wild Rabbit – for a proper countryside meal in cosy surrounds Whether you’re into country walks, antique shops, long pub lunches or just soaking up the scenery, there’s plenty to explore before or after the big day. It’s the perfect excuse for a little getaway.

London

London

If you're planning to spend some time in London after the wedding (highly recommended), let us know — we'd love to show you around. It's home for us now, and we’ve got a long list of favourite spots, from parks and pubs to hidden wine bars, market stalls, and restaurants we keep going back to. Whether you're after a lazy Sunday in the sun, a proper curry, or a cocktail in a basement somewhere, we've got you. Give us a heads-up if you're sticking around — we'd love to catch up and share a few of our local favourites.

Diddly Squat Farm Shop

Diddly Squat Farm Shop

If you’re a fan of Clarkson’s Farm or just up for something a bit different, Diddly Squat Farm Shop is worth a visit. Set up by Jeremy Clarkson himself, it’s a mix of tongue-in-cheek humour, proper local produce, and delicious snacks.

Cadbury Castle (rumoured to be Camelot!)

Cadbury Castle (rumoured to be Camelot!)

Just a short walk from North Cadbury Court, Cadbury Castle (also called Cadbury Hill Fort) is one of the most famous places linked to the legend of King Arthur. Locals have long believed it to be the real-life site of Camelot. It’s a large Iron Age hill fort with incredible views over Somerset. In the 16th century, historian John Leland wrote that local people believed Arthur lived there and rode out with his knights from the fort. Archaeological digs even found evidence of a large 5th–6th century hall — matching the timeframe of Arthurian legends. You can walk there from the house (about 15–20 minutes uphill), and on a clear day, it’s a stunning spot for a peaceful stroll or a romantic moment.
