Should I dress up?

Answer

Live your TRUTH. For the movie, Dale/I are keeping it casual - he might literally be in a t-shirt. I might be in a crop top. Jeans are welcome. No cocktail attire necessary. If you're coming to the park on Saturday afternoon, keep an eye on the weather and make sure you bring a layer (or 3 if you're Dave). I will be in sneakers + joggers.

City Parking Makes Me Nervous - Help.

Answer

If you are not using rideshare for events the good news is parking in our neighborhood is heavily non-permit and relatively easy for being Chicago. For Park Hangs on Saturday: Park on Leavitt (one-way running north) anywhere between Ainslie and Foster. For The Davis on Sunday: Park on Wilson (two way, running east/west) anywhere between Damen and Western. Easy walking, no permits needed.

Are you registered anywhere?

Answer

We are not! Our sweet little two bedroom apartment is full up (and Dale even has a small storage space for all the stuff we couldn't fit) - we are hoping to limit physical gifts. But! We are saving up for a house AND we are planning a rad honeymoon that includes a stop in Morocco - contributions as gifts to either of these things would be incredibly kind and greatly appreciated! There is an option under the registry tab of this website to do so. Or, if you feel more comfortable, feel free to Venmo either of us or pop what you wish in an envelope. Totally up to you!

I'm a vegetarian - are you thinking of me?

Answer

I am trying! For Park Hangs, I have a limited amount of grilled cheeses being delivered, just in case I have a few vegetarians (if you are joining us and a vegetarian, shoot me a heads up text just to make sure I've got enough). For The Davis, we've got cheese and carbs for snacking and use of their concessions. For Lincoln Square Tap Room, Parson's is delivering a big tray of mac n' cheese along with a small assortment of veggie sandwiches that will be reserved for our vegetarian friends only. Basically, I'm giving you the tools to turn into a piece of cheese.

How Should We Tip Bartenders?

Feel free to bring along a little wad of cash to tip all the bartenders (at the theater and the dive bar). We appreciate your support of their hard work and service!

I'm thinking about attending Park Hangs - can my dog come?

Answer

Yes. Big giant YES. Winnemac Park allows leashed dogs (fyi: it is not fenced and there is no dedicated "dog park" space). There will be strangers with strange dogs at the park - it's full of them in a happy way. Up to your gut on whether you've got a pup that would be comfortable.

Are the Chicago Cubs in town during this weekend of fun?

Woo-hoo, luckily the Cubs will be playing the Reds for a series of away games from Friday, May 23, 2024 - Sunday, May 25, 2025 (we are only about a mile north of Wrigley and when the Cubs are in town on a holiday weekend - prices at hotels get higher and restaurants get booked up). The Cubs ARE in town that Monday the 26th. Playing the Rockies (who are also terrible). The game is at 1:20p and will be packed for the holiday - if you'd like to catch the game, let us know, we are down to join you! Think about it, truly. The area around Wrigley is very different these days (smells a lot less like stale barf) and has tons going on. The stadium has undergone loads of updates - so if you are worried you'll need to pee in a weird gross urinal, (sadly?) those historic days are no more.

Are kids Invited to the movie/dinner?

UPDATED: YES THEY ARE. Now that Sojourn is unable to host a sit-down dinner, our capacity limitations are extended. Reminder, Jurassic Park is pretty darn loud, so please keep that in mind for your tiny ones. The dive bar is absolutely a dive bar, but if you don't mind loud roars or sticky floors - hit me up to bring your kids. Confirmed that Lincoln Square Tap is cool with kids until 8p. Happy to celebrate with the whole family.

I didn't book a hotel early - any updates on where to stay?

Answer

No judgment. And I get it, options are getting pricey due to the holiday. The Willows Hotel in Lakeview has deals for $170-$185 for Sunday night. The Majestic Hotel in Lakeview has rooms running about $215 for Sunday night. The City Suites Hotel in Lakeview has got rooms for about $197 for Sunday night. Some great options in an amazing northside area! Try Airbnb for rentals as well - there are still small apartments in Lakeview, Ravenswood, Wrigleyville for decent prices that could be a good option. Remember, events are about a mile from those areas (so still need an Uber).
