FAQs

Question

Why Donegal?

Answer

Divide and conquer: Sarah was searching Donegal venues, Kevin was looking in Bavaria. Sarah won. You'll see why soon!

Question

Getting to Donegal

Answer

If you're staying in Donegal Town, a public bus runs every 90min (route 30 or X30) conveniently from Dublin Bus Terminal and Dublin Airport to ‘The Diamond’ in Donegal Town (Abbey Hotel). We recommend booking the bus online a few days in advance at https://www.buseireann.ie/

Question

Do I need a car?

Answer

For maximum flexibility exploring Donegal & Ireland, you may want to rent a car or campervan. There are a few local buses around Donegal (#292, 293, 264, 994) which all stop at ‘The Diamond’ (Abbey Hotel), plus several taxi services such as Gallagher Cabs.

Question

Getting to wedding festivities

Answer

We'll be organizing a shuttle bus to/from the main wedding events. For more flexibility, there are several taxi services such as Gallagher Cabs.

Question

Do I need to attend all the events?

Answer

Of course not! As many of you may be travelling from abroad, we want to create opportunities for our friends and family to meet prior to the wedding, as well as explore the beautiful Donegal countryside. If you aren't able to or don't wish to participate in a particular event, we'll see you at the next one!

Question

Will there be an Afterparty?

Answer

Definitely! Probably. Maybe? It'll be spontaneous, low-key, and in Donegal Town.

Question

Can I sleep at the venue?

Answer

Lough Mardal is exclusively booked from Friday to Sunday with 6 cabins onsite reserved for immediate family. As it is a glamping facility, there is some space for both campervans and tents, with a small kitchen, toilets, and showers in the main building. This option is free of charge, but with limited capacity and only available from Friday 3pm until Sunday 11am. The common space is reserved for wedding festivities.

Question

I am a local and want to host!

Answer

Any Donegal locals interested in hosting a traveling guest to practice their German or taste real Maple Syrup, please reach out to Sarah or Kevin!
